Wanda Kirby Gardner, 85, of Lincoln, died at 3:55 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at Friendship Manor in Lincoln, with the Rev. Larry Maffett officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Beason. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Friendship Manor, 925 Primm Road. Mrs. Gardner was a local author and artist. She was born July 25, 1914, at Clinton, a daughter of Irvin and Sammie Pearl (Byerly) Kirby. She married John P. Gardner Feb. 22, 1935, at Decatur. He died March 1, 1998. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Jo Gardner and Martha R. (and Ralph) Gosda, all of Lincoln; two sons, Thomas J. (and Dee) Gardner of Springfield and John W. "Bill" (and Virginia) Gardner of Lincoln; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Nona Hunt of Kenney, Rose Humphrey of Booneville, Mo., and Ruth Brady of Fort Myers, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and four sisters. She was a contributor to art in general and an educator seeking to inspire children aspiring to become authors. She had received local and statewide recognition for her paintings as well as her writings. She had won many awards for her paintings at the Logan County Fair. She attended Deaconess Nursing School for two years. She was a member of Beason United Methodist Church and the church's Kum Join Us class. She was also a member of the Illinois Poetry Society, Toastmaster's Club, a member and past president of the Women's Club of Logan County and a charter member of Beason Home Extension. Memorials may be made to Beason United Methodist Church or Hospice Care of Illinois. Holland & Barry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Marilyn Rademaker, 69, of Hartsburg, died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at Pekin Living and Rehabilitation Center in Pekin. Memorial services will be this Saturday, Feb. 26, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hartsburg, with the Rev. Darby Lawrence officiating. Miss Rademaker was a bookkeeper and clerical secretary for many years. She was born Feb. 9, 1930, at Hartsburg, a daughter of Nonnie L. and Grace H. (Behrends) Rademaker. She is survived by one sister, Maxine Ryan of Pekin; nieces and nephews, David E. Ryan of Pekin, Julie Brandt of Hopedale, Mona DeBoer of Pekin and Shelly Allen of Lincoln; and great-nieces and nephews, Ryan and Brooke DeBoer of Pekin and Tracy and Kristina Allen of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Phyllis Rademaker. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hartsburg. Memorials may be made to her church. Mervin Andrus Cusey, 66, of Lincoln, died Feb. 7, 2000, at his winter residence in Lake Wales, Fla. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. this Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Lincoln Bible Church, with the Rev. Don Hoover officiating. Cusey was a farmer and teamster truck driver for 40 years. He retired in 1985. He was born April 21, 1933, at Wapella, a son of Clayton F. and Litta (Short) Cusey. He married Norma Crouse June 22, 1962. He is survived by his wife, Norma, of Lincoln; two sons, Kevin Cusey of Bloomington and Keith Cusey of Lincoln; two daughters, Khristina Wantland of Minonk and Kathy Dougherty of Weldon; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. He was a member of First Christian Church of Mount Pulaski.
