Wilmert Herbert
C. Wilmert, 87, of Lincoln, died at
9:50 p.m Tuesday, January 25, 2000, at Maple Ridge Care Centre in
Lincoln.
Memorial
services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, January 28, at Immanuel
Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Joe Bleakley
officiating.
Cremation
rites were accorded.
There
will be no visitation.
Wilmert
retired in 1971 from Lincoln Developmental Center, where he was a
stationary engineer.
He was born
February 18, 1912, in Lincoln, a son of Fred and Mary (Schmidt)
Wilmert. He married Agnes McShane September 6, 1937, in Lincoln.
She survives.
Also surviving are
three daughters, Judith Cole of Wylie, Tex., Pamela (and Guy)
Overbey of Lincoln and Sandra Hanks of McKinney, Tex.; four
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in
death by one son, three brothers and two sisters.
He was a member of
Immanuel Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 263 and
International Union of Operating Engineers.
Memorials may be
made to his church or Hospice Care of Illinois.

Robinson
Dorothy
E. Robinson, 85, of Beason, died at 8:35 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2000,
at Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln.
Funeral
services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 29, at
St. John United Church of Christ in Lincoln, with the Rev. Richard
Reinwald officiating.
Burial
will be at New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 29, at the church.
Mrs.
Robinson was a former cook at DeWitt County Nursing Home in
Hallsville, a former Avon representative in the Beason area, and a
homemaker. She was an avid gardener.
She was born October
15, 1914, at Gibson City, a daughter of Max R. and Louisa A. (Hass)
Begolka. She married Vernet G. Robinson December 16, 1936, at Atlanta.
He died August 29, 1998.
She is survived by two
sons, Marvin (and Gail) Robinson of Charleston and Dwayne (and Cheryl)
Robinson of Champaign; one daughter, Sylvia Barry of Charleston; one
brother, Raymond Begolka of Lincoln; and one sister, Ann Loercher of
Lincoln.
She was preceded death
by her parents; husband; three brothers, Arthur Begolka, Walter
Begolka and Harry Begolka; and two sisters, Emma Opperman and Lillie
Begolka.
Mrs.
Robinson was a member of the Beason United Methodist Church, the
United Methodist Women, and the Logan County Farm Bureau Home
Extension. She was a former Sunday School superintendent.
Memorials
may be made to St. John United Church of Christ, Visiting Nurse
Association/
Hospice Care, or Arthritis Foundation.

Jo Downs Betty
Jo Downs, 69, of Lincoln, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2000,
at her home.
Funeral
services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 28, at Zion
Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Mark Carnahan
officiating.
Burial
will be at Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Holland & Barry Funeral
Home in Lincoln.
Mrs.
Downs was a retired secretary/
bookkeeper for the Scully Estate office in Lincoln. She worked
part-time for the Logan County Fair Association.
She
was born October 20, 1930, in Logan County, a daughter of Elmer C.
and Georgia I. (Sparks) Sheley. She married William P. Downs
February 18, 1955, at Lincoln. He survives.
Also surviving are
six brothers, George (and Catherine) Sheley, Wayne (and Myrtle)
Sheley, Homer Sheley, Howard (and Diane) Sheley and Robert (and
Linda) Sheley, all of Lincoln, and James (and Joan) Sheley, Sr. of
New Holland; four sisters, Dorothy Snyder, Virginia Klockenga and
Mildred (and Marion) Maaks, all of Lincoln, and Jessie (and Offie)
Rankin of New Holland; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in
death by her parents and one brother, Richard Sheley.
She was a member of
Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, where she was a former treasurer.
She was a long-time member of the Lincoln Women's Bowling
Association.
