DAR
Good Citizens Announced
A
panel of local judges selected Katie Maske of Mt.Pulaski to represent the
Abraham Lincoln Chapter of the Daughters of the American
Revolution in the regional competition. Maske and two other area students have received the
2000 DAR Good Citizen Award. This award is presented annually to a
graduating senior who best exhibits the qualities of
dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.
Maske
is the daughter of Michael and Kathy Maske. The Senior Class
President and National Honor Society President is active in
Student Council, softball, JETS Design, Science Olympiad, Spanish
Club and WYSE Academic Challenge. Katie plans to attend college
and double-major in English secondary education and creative
writing with aspirations of becoming an English teacher. |
Mark
Leesman, son of Luther and Mary Leesman of Hartsburg, was chosen
as the winner
from
Hartsburg-Emden High School. Mark is a member of the Student
Council, Spanish Club and National Sr. Beta Club. He participates
in basketball and baseball and plans to attend college and major
in Business Administration. He hopes to someday own a business.
Amy
Rohrer is the daughter of James and Deb Rohrer. She has been
selected as the Lincoln Community High School winner. Amy’s
school activities include student government, class secretary all
four years, LCHS Advisory Committee, Spanish Club, Letterwinner,
Football and Basketball Cheerleader and Pep Club. Amy plans to
pursue a degree in elementary education after graduation.
These
students will be recognized at a luncheon in their honor on
Saturday, March 11.
