Roberta
Cluck Cowgur Parks, 80, of Beason, died at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, July
1, 2000, at Carle Hospital in Urbana.
Funeral
services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at Holland &
Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Larry Maffett
officiating.
A
committal service will be Tuesday afternoon at the Ebenezer
Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Galatia, and burial will follow at
Ebenezer Cemetery, Galatia.
Mrs.
Parks was head of dietary services for the Beason Community School
system for 25 years.
She
was born Oct. 1, 1919, at Herrin, a daughter of Arthur L. and Pearle
(Johnson) Cluck. She married Lilburn Cowgur in Missouri on Aug. 30,
1941. He died Dec. 15, 1974. She married Paul Eugene Parks at Beason
in August 1977. He died Jan. 27, 1990.
Surviving
are one son, Lawrence F. Cowgur of Mahomet; one daughter, Mrs.
Catherine Randolph of Magee, Miss.; seven grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; three sisters, Flossie Anderson of
Thompsonville, Carrie Ogden of Zeigler and Geraldine Galbraith of
Galatia; and one brother, Donald Cluck of Galatia.
She
was preceded in death by one sister, Audrey Wright, and one brother,
Forrest Cluck.
She
was a member of the Beason United Methodist Church.

Claudia
J. Busch Bottomley, 87, of Lincoln, died at 10 p.m. Thursday, June
29, 2000, at her residence.
Funeral
services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 3, at Holland & Barry
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Burial
will be in New Union Cemetery.
Visitation
will be one hour before the service at the funeral home on Monday.
Mrs.
Bottomley retired from Lehn & Fink Products Company, where she
had worked for 20 years.
She
was born June 21, 1913, at Curran, a daughter of Lee and Fern
(Hines) Hohimer. She married Orville H. Busch on June 7, 1938, at
Springfield. He died April 2, 1961. She married Thomas Bottomley on
Feb. 20, 1965, at Carlinville. He died July 18, 1992.
Surviving
are one son, James O. (and wife Dianna) Busch of Delavan; one
stepson, James Bottomley of Mesa, Ariz.; two grandchildren and eight
step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and 25
step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; one
brother, Oran Hohimer of Girard; and one sister, Thelma Stewart of
Bettendorf, Iowa.
She
was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Evidene Lee; and one
step-great-grandson, Jordan Lee.
She
was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and the Royal
Neighbors of America.

Ambulance Association.

Robert
H. Salyers, 78, of Lincoln died at 2:01 a.m. Sunday, July 2, 2000,
at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield.
Funeral
services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 6, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Burial
will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Lincoln.
Salyers
was a shift foreman at PPG Industries in Lincoln.
He
served with the Army Air Corps in World War II.
He
was born Dec. 10, 1921, in Lincoln, a son of Wylie and Effie Salyers.
He married Linda Elliott in Lincoln on Dec. 29, 1948.
Surviving
are one son, Gary (and Barbara) Salyers of Wheaton, and three
grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, wife and several brothers and
sisters.

may be made to the World War II Veterans Memorial Fund.

Pearl Allen, 97, of Carmi, formerly of Lincoln, died at 7:25 p.m.
Thursday, June 29, 2000, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in
Carmi.
Funeral
services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 3, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Burial
will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.
Visitation
will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs.
Allen had worked at the Illiopolis Armory and the Stetson China
Factory in Lincoln.
She
was born Aug. 22, 1902, at Birdseye, Ind., a daughter of Jesse and
Lillian May Scott Goldman. She married Clifton O. Allen on July 3,
1919, at Mount Pulaski.
Surviving
are one sister, Gladys Patterson of Noble; one nephew, Myles
Patterson of West Salem; one niece, Evelyn Patterson of Rockford;
two grandchildren, Jan and Terry Allen of Lincoln; three
step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
She
was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son and 12
brothers and sisters.
She
was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Lincoln.
