Blood donors reach milestones
[JULY 25, 2000]  During June, the following donors at Lincoln blood drives reached goals in their blood giving: Emil "Bud" Moos, 21 gallons; Linda S. Wilson, 12; Benjamin Vogel, six; Dan Ormond, five; Brenda Jones, three; Cynthia Minder, two; and Barb Chrismore, one gallon. At the two drives in Lincoln, a total of 72 units of blood was collected.

Barbara Rodgers of Atlanta reported that at their drive in Atlanta, 45 units of blood were donated and the following people reached goals: Bob Johnson, eight gallons, Cindy Sears, five; Robert Polley Sr., four; Terry Surratt, three; Gale Miller, two; and Leo Mayberry and Sandra Beck, one gallon each.

August blood drives scheduled  

Pete’s Hardware will sponsor the American Red Cross blood drives on Aug. 2 and 16 at the Lincoln Sports Complex. Hours for both drives will be from noon until 5 p.m.

Mount Pulaski Christian Church will be the site of a drive on Wednesday, Aug. 23, from 12 until 6 p.m.

Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital will host a drive on Tuesday, Aug. 29, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

National Red Cross is appealing for more donors, as there is usually a shortage of blood during the summer months. People are encouraged to mark these dates on their calendars and give blood to save lives.

HYPE hits the ropes
[JULY 11, 2000]  The rain held off Monday as members of HYPE (Helping Youth in a Positive Environment), composed of junior high-aged kids, participated in team building and trust activities.  Ron Sillings, of Lincoln YMCA, and Kristi Simpson, of Logan-Mason Mental Health, led the youth through high ropes adventure course activities at the Lincoln YMCA.
