Shiela Sethi

Shiela B. Sethi, 71, of Lincoln, died at 6:55 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at her residence.

There will be no funeral services.

Visitation will be at her residence, 420 Southgate, during daylight hours Wednesday, March 1.

Mrs. Sethi was a registered nurse.

She was born Jan. 18, 1929, at Ali, India, a daughter of B. and Kala Vati Lall. She married Dr. Jitendar Sethi March 16, 1959. He survives, in Lincoln.

Also surviving are one son, Kerry (and Henna) Sethi of New Hartford, N.Y.; one daughter, Sherry S. (and Karl) Newton of Mahomet; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. She was the last of her immediate family.

Memorials may be made to a children's charity of the donor's choice or to Central Illinois Visiting Nurses Association.

 

 

 

 

Bette Butler

Bette Butler, 73, of Lincoln died at 6:45 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at St. Clara's Manor Nursing Home in Lincoln.

A memorial mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 4, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. James Cravens officiating.

Cremation rites were accorded.

There will be no visitation.

Mrs. Butler was a housewife.

She was born June 11, 1926, in Warsaw, Ind. She married Charles Butler Feb. 13, 1944, in Warsaw, Ind. He died Oct. 4, 1990.

Surviving are one daughter, Carla Butler of Effingham; one son, Doug Butler of Springfield; and one grandson.

She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

 


Ray Bailey

Ray Bailey, 63, of Lincoln died at 10:21 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Memorial Medical Center Emergency Room.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Bailey was the minister at the Lincoln Church of Christ in Lincoln since 1990.

He was born June 29, 1936, in Washington, D.C., a son of Bedford R. and Cora E. (Cross) Bailey Sr. He married Betty Kendrick Feb. 15, 1958, at Homer, La. She survives, in Lincoln.

Also surviving are two sons: Daniel Ray (and Donna) Bailey of Des Moines, Iowa; David Franklin (and Jennifer) Bailey of Port Arkansas, Texas; one grandson, Timothy Bailey, and one granddaughter, Amy Bailey, both of Des Moines, Iowa; three sisters, Virginia Verzi of Silver Spring, Md., Nancy Bell of Salisbury, Md., and Evelyn Coppage of Commerce, Ga.; one uncle, Alan Cross of Dennison, Texas; 10 nieces and five nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1961 with a bachelor’s degree in science and from Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY, in 1967 with a master’s degree in physics. He also attended Harding University in Searcy, Ark.

He was a science teacher in the state of New York and served as a minister in Lansdale, Penn.; Glens Falls, NY; and Clifton Park, NY, before his ministry in Lincoln.
