Thanks from West Lincoln- Broadwell PTO

3-9-00

To the editor:

On Feb. 26, the West Lincoln-Broadwell PTO held their annual pancake and sausage breakfast. The support received from area businesses and the community was outstanding! It is GREAT to see businesses and people in the community to join together to support our local school. The PTO would like to thank Mr. Molt, Graue Chevrolet, Illini Bank, Dr. Todd Nobbe, Burwell Oil, Hicks Oil, Paulus Farm, Comfort Inn, Tom and Darla Kissel, Eagle Country Market and Stine Seed for their contribution to the breakfast. A huge thank you needs to go out to all of the parent and school staff volunteers that helped with the breakfast. An event like this is not possible without the involvement of such people.

The funds raised by this event will go towards a learning garden for the students. The garden has already begun with the planting of trees in the area. In the spring, the garden will continue to grow with students planting perennial, annual and herb areas. The teachers have also been hard at work applying for grant money for this project as well.

Sincerely,

West Lincoln-Broadwell PTO

"Hello" from Atlanta, Ga.

3-7-00

To the editor:

Hi! My mom just told me about the site, and I am impressed. I have been in the Army for the past 14 years, and it has taken me around the world. It is always a comfort to be able to read about the "homestead." After spending several years overseas, I have found that there truly is "no place like home."

Salvation Army thanks businesses

3-6-00

To the editor:

I would like to send out my thanks and appreciation to the area businesses that made some wonderful donations toward the 1999 Christmas Kettle Celebration Dinner for the Logan County Salvation Army volunteers. Every year wonderful people of this community brave the cold temperatures and sometimes brutal elements of winter to ring bells for the Logan County Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign. To thank those volunteers we host a dinner in their honor. This year our dinner was on Feb. 19 at the Zion Lutheran Christian Education Building.

Several local businesses made some wonderful contributions for door prizes to enable us to further show our gratitude to our volunteers. I would like to list them in this letter and say "thank you" to them all. Thank you to Holiday Inn Express, Unique Images, Wal-Mart, Lee’s Home Furnishings, Bonanza Steak House, Maverick Steak House, Family Video, Movie Gallery, Bob’s Roast Beef, Burger King, McDonald’s, Subway, Hardee’s, Taco Bell, Steak & Shake and Wendy’s.

It is wonderful to live in a community that has businesses that are as involved and generous as these.

Gratefully,

Curtis Sutterfield, Service Center Director
Logan County Salvation Army
