Mary
J. Aper, 81, of Lincoln died at 11:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at
Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital intensive care unit.
Funeral
services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, at St. John’s
Lutheran Church in Hartsburg, with the Rev. Frank Pieper
officiating.
Burial
will be in Hartsburg Union Cemetery, Hartsburg.
Visitation
will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in
Hartsburg.
Mrs.
Aper farmed along with her husband, in rural Hartsburg and New
Holland, from 1938 until they retired in 1981.
She
was born July 25, 1919, at Hartsburg to Unkie and Henrietta (Terviel)
Aper. She married Fred H. Aper on June 14, 1938, in Rockville, Ind.
He died June 20, 1986.
Surviving
are two sons, Myron L. Aper and wife Susie of New Holland and Floyd
H. Aper and wife Gail of Normal; two daughters, Myrna J. Aper of
Lincoln and Arlene J. Hauk and husband Jim of Bartonville; six
grandchildren, Frederick and Lori Aper of Mackinaw, Tim and Michelle
Aper of Lincoln, Rob and Kasia Aper of Normal, Terri and Otie
Tripplett of Middletown, Kathy Hauk of Bartonville and Kyle and
Jenniefer Hauk of Peoria; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She
was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Leroy Aper; one daughter,
Kathleen Joann Aper; two brothers, John "Jack" and Harold
R. Aper; and one sister, Dorothy Kendrick. She was the last of her
immediate family.
She
was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Hartsburg, the
Ladies Aide of her church and the Bunk Club of Lincoln.
Memorials
may be made to her church or The Diabetes Association of Illinois.

E. Halstead, 86, of Joliet, formerly of Mount Pulaski, died at 12:40
a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at Deerbrooke Nursing Home in Joliet.
Funeral
services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, with Bill Shanle officiating..
Burial
will be in Steenbergen Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.

Halstead farmed with his husband.
She
was born June 4, 1914, in Edwards County to George and Dora
(Nicholas) Stopher. She married Roland Peter Halstead on Oct. 8,
1932, in Mount Pulaski. He died May 18, 1989.
Surviving
are one son, James Allen Halstead of Joliet, and one sister, Eileen
(Van) Froelich of Decatur.
She
was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She
was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mount Pulaski.

Bessie
Marie Palmer, 93, of Lincoln died at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000,
at Maple Ridge Care Centre.
Funeral
services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Holland &
Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln, with William Dohan officiating.
Burial
will be in Old Salem Cemetery in Sangamon County.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Holland & Barry.
Mrs.
Palmer worked as a cook at Lincoln College before her retirement.
She
was born Aug. 14, 1907, in Curran Township to James Thomas and Phebe
(Duffy) Stephens. She married Lester N. Palmer on Aug. 1, 1925, at
Curran. He died Feb. 17, 1991.
Surviving
are two sons, George A. Palmer of Middleburg, Fla., and L. Thomas
Palmer of Carlisle, Ark.; three daughters, Dora Jean Donath, Ina
Marie Smith and Patricia Ann Duncan, all of Lincoln; 35
grandchildren; 101 great-grandchildren; 39
great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nellie G. Rain of
Springfield and Velma B. Elmore of Chatham.
She
was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, two
daughters, one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter, five brothers
and one sister.
She
was a member of Lincoln Hill Free Methodist Church.
