DeWitt
Yeast, 89, of Atlanta died at 4:56 a.m. Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at
St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln.
Funeral
services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at the Atlanta
United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Venter officiating.
Burial
will be in McLean Cemetery, McLean.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Quiram Funeral Home in
Atlanta. The Atlanta Masonic Lodge 165 A.F.&A.M. will lead
Masonic rites at 7 p.m.
Yeast
operated a dairy, grain and livestock farm at Atlanta until his
retirement.
He
was born July 21, 1911, in Mercer County, Ky., to Andy and Nina
(Sims) Yeast. He married Doris Bode on June 2, 1935, at McLean. She
survives.
Also
surviving are two sons, Ronald D. (and Marjorie) Yeast of Atlanta
and Roland Eugene Yeast of McLean; one daughter, Kathie (and Hal)
McReynolds of Hinsdale; 10 granddaughters; six great-grandchildren;
one brother, Kenneth Yeast of Palestine, Texas; and one sister,
Mildred Reining of Stanford.
He
was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Caroline
Arnold.
He
was raised on the Snow and Palmer dairy farm at McLean and was a
graduate of McLean High School. He started farming in 1936.
He
was a member of the Atlanta United Methodist Church, Atlanta Masonic
Lodge, Bloomington Consistory and Shriners in Peoria. He served 21
years on the Atlanta School Board. He also served on the Atlanta
City Council.
In
lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Atlanta United
Methodist Church or the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.

Wayne Rogers
Barrett
Wayne Rogers, 74, of rural Atlanta died at 9:42 a.m. Thursday, Nov.
23, 2000, at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal.
Memorial
services will be at 10:30 am. Monday, Nov. 27, at the Atlanta
Christian Church. David Harmon will officiate. Cremation will follow
the services, and committal at Atlanta Cemetery will be scheduled at
a later date.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Quiram Funeral Home in Atlanta.
Masonic services will be at 7 p.m.
Rogers
was an electrician and farmer. He owned Rogers Enterprises.
He
served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
He
was born March 6, 1926, at rural Atlanta, to Barrett F. and Maude
(Adams) Rogers. He married Kathleen "Kaye" Womack on March
17, 1946, at Salina, Kan. She survives.
Also
surviving are one daughter, Judith Cathryn (and James) Marcum of
Pueblo, Colo.; one son, Stephen Wayne Rogers of Groveland; four
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marjorie
Ann (and James) Coleman of Atlanta.
He
was preceded in death by his parents.
He
was a member of Atlanta Christian Church, Atlanta Masonic Lodge 165
A.F. & A.M., a member and Paul Harris fellow of the Atlanta
Rotary Club, a 50-year member of the Atlanta American Legion Post
341, and a former member of the 40 & 8. He served on the board
of directors of the Atlanta National Bank. He was also a member of
the Atlanta Historical Society, the A-Team and the J.H. Hawes
Elevator Restoration Commission.

Philomena
"Sis" Blanford, 85, died at 3:35 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 26,
2000, at St. Clara’s Manor Nursing Home in Lincoln.
Funeral
services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at Holy Family
Church in Lincoln with Monsignor Edward Higgins officiating.
Burial
will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at Kerrigan Funeral Home
in Lincoln, with the rosary and wake service at 5 p.m.
Mrs.
Blanford and her husband farmed in rural Lincoln until his death, in
1975.
She
was born June 18, 1915, in Tell City, Ind., to William and Philomena
(Schneider) Hartz. She married Vernon Blanford on Oct. 8, 1937, in
Tell City, Ind. He died April 16, 1975.
Several
nieces and nephews survive.
She
was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Mrs.
Blanford was a member of Holy Family Church in Lincoln. She was a
volunteer at St. Clara’s Manor, doing sewing for the residents.

may be made to St. Clara’s Manor Nursing Home in Lincoln.
John
W. West
John W. West, 83, of Lincoln died at 8:45 a.m.
Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
There
will be a memorial service. It is unscheduled at this time.
There is no visitation.
Burial will be in New Union Cemetery.
West managed the Beason Lumber Company,
retiring from Alexander Lumber Company in Lincoln.
He was born
Sept. 22, 1917, in Beason, to
William and Elle (McNelly) West.
He married Dorothy Southern on Jan. 13, 1940, in Bowling
Green, Mo. She
survives.
Also
surviving are two brothers-in-law, Jack B. Southern of Bemus Point,
N.Y. and Don M. Southern of Beason; two nephews,
Melvin West of Bloomington and Dr. Tom West of Galesburg; and two
nieces, Phyllis Harlow of Knoxville and Cyndy West of Arvada, Colo.
West was preceded in death by his
parents and two brothers, Harold and Wayne West.
He was a member of Beason United Methodist
Church.
He was also active in local and area sports.
He managed and coached the American Legion baseball team from
1956 to 1972. He was
also timekeeper for the former Beason High School and Lincoln High
School for 58 years. He
was also timer for Illinois State Basketball Tournaments.
He was inducted into the Basketball Coaches Association Hall
of Fame.
John was one of the founders and organizers of
the Chestnut-Beason Park District and a member of the Beason
Volunteer Fire Department for many years.

K. Redfairn, 61, of Lincoln, died at 8:35 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 23,
2000, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Cremation
rites were accorded. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday,
Nov. 27, at Zion Cemetery, Lincoln, with Henry Cox officiating.
There
is no visitation.
Mrs.
Redfairn was a homemaker for her family.
She
was born Jan. 5, 1939, at Lincoln to Charles Logan and Iva (Aery)
Wheeler. She married David E. Redfairn on Dec. 2, 1957, at Dyer,
Ind. He survives, in Lincoln.
Also
surviving are one daughter, Cathy (and husband Richard) Johnson of
Lincoln; one son, Rick David (and wife Robyn) Redfairn of Lincoln;
two grandchildren; two brothers, Donald and David Wheeler, both of
Lincoln; two sisters, Dorothy Thompson of Lake Village, Ind., and
Eileen Duffy of Lincoln.
She
was preceded in death by both parents, six brothers and two sisters.
She
was of the Methodist faith.
