Melvin
"Doc" Miller, 84, of Lincoln died at 8:38 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at
Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Funeral
services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Herbert Coates and the Rev.
William Dolan officiating.
Graveside
services will be at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at Macedonia Cemetery, Macedonia.
Visitation
will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Miller
was retired from Lincoln Developmental Center.
He
was born April 4, 1916, at Macedonia to William and Ada (Meadows)
Miller. He married Veta Hall on Dec. 1, 1940, at Perryville, Mo. She
died April 27, 2000.
Surviving
are one son, Loyd (and Joan) Johnson of Lincoln; two
grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Cameron
Miller of Benton; and two sisters, Margaret Moore of Macedonia and
Louise Carlton of Brazil, Ind.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one grandson.
He
was a member of Lincoln Hill Free Methodist Church in Lincoln.

John
Clancy "Slim" Roher, 85, of Cornland died at 2:11 a.m.
Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Funeral
services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, with Allen Hickerson officiating.
Burial
will be in Mechanicsburg Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral
Home in Mount Pulaski.
Roher
was a truck driver for the state of Illinois before his retirement.
Roher
was born June 6, 1915, at Illiopolis to Francis and Margaret (Gowen)
Roher. He married Marguerite Guffey in St. Louis on March 17, 1938.
She died July 6, 1992.
Surviving
are two sons, Francis Edward (and Cathy) Roher of Springfield and
Lonnie Gene Roher of Granite City; two daughters, Linda (and
Wendell) Milner of Athens and Juanita (and Robert) Perkins of
Springfield; a special friend, Karen Beal of Cornland; a
sister-in-law, Nadine Allen of Cantrall; a nephew, Dennis Allen of
Cantrall; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; five
great-great-grandchildren; and five honorary grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by his wife, one grandson and one
great-grandson.

Jerry
Jones, 46, of Middletown died at 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000,
at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Funeral
services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Don Hoover officiating.
Burial
will be in Harmony Cemetery, Beason.
Visitation
will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral
Home in Lincoln.
Jones
was employed by Lincoln College in maintenance work.
He
was born Feb. 8, 1954, at Lincoln to James Edgar and Mary L.
(Landers) Jones. He married Donna Knight on Jan 2, 1971, in English,
Ind. She survives, in Middletown.
Also
surviving are one son, James Jones of Middletown; two daughters,
BobbiJo (and Craig) Fulscher of Middletown and Penny Jones of
Lincoln; three grandchildren; three brothers, James Jones of
Middletown, and Michael and Wayne Jones of Crawford County, Ind.;
and one sister, Mary Osborne of Lincoln.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and one sister.
He
was a member of the Moose Lodge.

Springfield or to St. Jude’s research.
