H. Ruben, 79, a resident of Sharon Elms Care Center in Peoria, died
at 7:07 a.m. Tuesday, Oct.10, 2000, at the care center.
Funeral
services will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Holland & Barry
Funeral Home in Lincoln, with James Thomas officiating.
Burial,
with a private committal service on Saturday, will be in Hartsburg
Union Cemetery.
Visitation
is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Ruben
farmed at Hartsburg.
He
was born Aug. 14, 1921, at Hartsburg to George and Ida Margaret (Zieglowsky)
Ruben.
Surviving
are nieces and nephews Cheryl Ruben Baker of Emden, Aaron William
Liesman of Lincoln, Charles Earl Ruben of Hartsburg and Jill Liesman
Hower of Lincoln; one sister, Geraldine Marianne Leesman of
Hartsburg; a sister-in-law, Juanita Ruben; a brother-in-law, Paul
Leesman; and 12 great-nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by a brother, Earl M. Ruben.
He
attended Hartsburg schools.
He
enjoyed music.
He
was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of
Hartsburg.
Memorials
may be made to his church or to the donor’s choice.
Dean
Alexander
Dean
E. Alexander, 88, of Lincoln died at 5:55 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000,
at Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.
Alexander
has been cremated, and a private committal service will be at a
later date, with burial in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be at the First Baptist Church in Lincoln from 5 to 7 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 13. A memorial service of praise celebrating his life
will be at the First Baptist Church in Lincoln on Saturday, Oct. 14,
at 2 p.m.
Alexander
retired in 1976 from First National Bank, where he was vice
president.
He
was born Oct. 1, 1912, in Kinmundy to Fred G. and Pearl M. (Jackson)
Alexander. He married Blanche A. Morfey on May 29, 1932, in
Charleston. She survives.
Also
surviving are two daughters, Margaret M. (and husband Robert) Doyle
of Marion, Iowa, and Judith A. Katz of Lincoln; one son, David E.
(and wife Sonnie) Alexander of Lincoln; six grandchildren; 22
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Nelda
Humphrey of Tampa, Fla.; and one brother, Xon Alexander of Elberton,
Ga.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.
He
was a resident of Lincoln since 1939. He was the manager at Sears
Roebuck & Co. in Lincoln for a number of years before joining
the First National Bank.
He
was an active member of the Elks and Rotary clubs and served in
several positions of leadership.
He
was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lincoln. He
loved his Lord and his church, and his life has made a positive
impact on the lives of those with whom he came in contact. A
Scripture that meant much to him through the years is Romans 8:28:
"And we know that all things work together for good, to them
who are the called according to His purpose."

Awe
Robert
Louis Awe, 72, of Lincoln, died at 11:40 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, 2000,
at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Danville.
Private
graveside services with military rites were at Old Union Cemetery in
Lincoln, with an American Legion chaplain officiating.
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Awe
was a retired truck driver for the Teamsters Union.
He
was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He
was born Feb. 26, 1928, at Lincoln, to John A. and Mary Ellen
(Armstrong) Awe.
Surviving
are one son, Robert M. Awe of Lincoln; one grandson, Clint Awe of
Lincoln; one granddaughter, Courtney Awe of Great Lakes; and one
sister, Patsy Beverman of Lincoln.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Memorials
may be made to American Legion Post 263.
