and visitation will be in Lincoln on Tuesday for Daniel C. Ott of Sebree, Ky.,
son of longtime Abraham Lincoln portrayer Charles Ott of Lincoln. Daniel Ott,
42, died on Thursday, Oct. 19, at Clay, Ky., as a result of a one-vehicle
accident.

'friend of Lincoln' comes
to Mount Pulaski open house

Walking
back and forth across the wide plank floor, the small-town
storekeeper told the folks gathered there about his friend Abraham
Lincoln. He told them Lincoln was a man who came and sat in his
store to hear the news and tell stories that got everybody laughing.
He told them Lincoln was a president who always welcomed a visit
from his old hometown friends, even when he was worrying about the
way the war was going and grieving for the boys who were dying to
save the Union.

Jim White of Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital will give a review of
prescription and other medications at Oasis Senior Center, 501 Pulaski St., from
9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24. He will present the latest information
about prescription and over-the-counter medications, as well as answer general
questions about generic alternatives, vitamins and side effects of medicine.

community? Do you want to know the signs and symptoms, in case someone you know
is using these drugs?

you answered yes to any of these questions, you need to attend the
Ecstasy Community Education Seminar presented by Randy Weber, of
Lighthouse Institute, on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 6:30 p.m. in the
Railer Room at the Lincoln Park District.
The
presentation is sponsored by the Alcohol, Tobacco, & Other Drug
Task Force of the Healthy Communities Partnership.

Ribbon Week is observed

Red
Ribbon Week was established in memory of a local narcotics officer who fell in
the line of duty. It is intended to bring awareness of drug and alcohol issues,
particularly targeting our youth. Monday is being observed as Grim Reaper Day at
Lincoln Junior High School. Grim Reaper Day is to show the effects of drinking
and driving on our society.
