Helen
V. Russell, 65, of Lincoln died at 6:23 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13,
2000, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Funeral
services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, at Lincoln
Southern Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Shaw officiating.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln. An Eastern Star service will be at 7:45
p.m.
Mrs.
Russell was formerly a baker at Lincoln College. She retired in
1989.
She
was born Feb. 27, 1935, at DuQuoin to Hershel and Helen (Newborn)
George. She married Thomas Howard Russell at Pinckneyville on Dec.
19, 1953. He died Sept. 1, 1995.
Surviving
are four daughters, Helen Louise Russell, Debra Russell and
Katherine Swarts of Lincoln and Patricia (and Brian) Nota of
Broadwell; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers,
Thomas George of DuQuoin and Robert Horner of Springfield; and one
sister, Amanda Horner of Staunton.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister and one
granddaughter.
She
was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Lincoln, Eastern
Star, White Shrine of Jerusalem and an advisory board member for the
Order of Rainbow Girls.
Memorials
may be made to her church.
