Allan
R. Taylor, 90, of Lincoln, formerly of the Wenona area, died at
11:37 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial
Hospital in Lincoln.
Funeral
services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at Lincoln
Christian Church, with Tom Gerdts and Dr. Keith Ray officiating.
Burial
will be at 2:30 p.m. in North Limestone Presbyterian Cemetery near
Hanna City.
Visitation
will be Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 at Holland & Barry Funeral
Home and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
Taylor
was a retired grain and livestock farmer. He also raised purebred
Morgan horses.
He
was born Feb. 15, 1910, in Peoria County to James Richard and Cora
(Cameron) Taylor. He married Evelyn Wright.
Surviving
are his wife, in Lincoln; one son, Robert Eugene Taylor of Kankakee;
two daughters, Martha Baldwin of Monticello and Mary Curry of
Lincoln; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by two brothers, William R. and James Robert
Taylor, and two sisters, Alice and Edith Taylor.
He
was a member of Lincoln Christian Church and active in the men’s
fellowship group at his church.
Farming
was his chief occupation for 27 years in the Wenona area. Later, he
moved to Lincoln, where he was associated with the maintenance
department of Lincoln Christian College for the next 27½ years,
retiring July 15 of this year.
He
loved what he was doing, especially being around all the college
students. He was known as the man on the golf cart, wearing his
Taylor hat. His main love was his family, and his passion was the
Lincoln Christian College and worldwide missions.
Memorials
may be made to the Taylor Scholarship Fund at Lincoln Christian
College.
