Woodrow
C. Grant, 85, of rural McLean died at 1:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12,
2001, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Funeral
services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at St. Mary’s
Church in Atlanta. The Rev. Thomas Taylor will officiate.
Burial
will be in Funks Grove Cemetery, rural McLean.
Visitation
will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Quiram Funeral Home in
Atlanta. There will be a rosary service at 8 p.m.
Grant
was a lifelong farmer in the McLean area.
He
was born Nov. 3, 1915, at Andyville, Ky., to Shelby and Flagie
(Logsdon) Grant. He married Rachel E. Green on Jan. 28, 1939, in
Lincoln. Mrs. Grant died July 7, 1998.
Surviving
are two daughters, Charlene (Bruce) Weaver of Fairfax, Va., and
Connie Swearingen of Tracy, Calif.; one son, Mark (Angie) Grant of
Jacksonville; eight grandchildren, Julie Hoose Fluno of Spokane,
Wash., Susan Hoose Seay of Belleville, Doborah Hoose of Seattle,
Wash., Tony Swearingen of Fremont, Calif.; Natalie Swearingen of
Stockton, Calif., Sean Grant of McLean, Jason Grant of McLean and
Robert Grant of McLean; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ruth
Kelly of Heyworth, Ruby Arbuckle of Bloomington, Lena B. Bowen of
Saybrook, Marjorie Swartzlose of Bloomington; two brothers, Clive
Grant of Bloomington and Marshall Grant of Missouri; and several
nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
He
was a former member of the McLean Merry Mixers Square Dance Club and
the Y do si do Square Dance Club of Bloomington. He served several
years as a Democratic election judge. He was a member of St. Mary’s
Church, Atlanta.
Memorial
