"Bud" McGinn, 91, of Latham died at 9:33 a.m. Friday, Feb.
16, 2001, at Quincy Veterans Hospital in Quincy.
Funeral
services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, with Bill Shanle officiating.
Military rites will be accorded.
Burial
will be in Lake Bank Cemetery, rural Latham.
Visitation
will be one hour before the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
McGinn
was a retired farmer.
He
was born May 8, 1909, in Olney to John and Florence (Bollinger)
McGinn.
He
was the last of his immediate family.
He
was preceded in death by two sisters.
He
was a member of VFW Post 99 and a lifetime member of the American
Legion. He was of the Methodist faith.

Florence
H. Brinkmeyer, 84, of Lincoln died at 12:55 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16,
2001, at Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln.
Funeral
services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 29, 2001, at Holland &
Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Burial
will be in Irish Grove Cemetery, Middletown.
Visitation
will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Mrs.
Brinkmeyer was custodian at the junior high school in Middletown.
She retired in 1980.
She
was born Feb. 9, 1917, in Menard County to Frank and Julia (Ferree)
Agnew. She married Raymond Brinkmeyer on Dec. 24, 1940. He survives,
in Lincoln.
Also
surviving are one daughter, Beverly Sparks of Lincoln, and one
granddaughter, Stacey Sparks of Bloomington.
She
was preceded in death by her parents and 10 brothers and sisters.
She
was a member of Middletown Presbyterian Church, Royal Neighbors of
America and American Legion Auxiliary of Middletown.

L. Thornton, 90, of Fredricktown, Mo., formerly of Mount Pulaski,
died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at Stockhoff Nursing Home
in Fredricktown, Mo.
Funeral
services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, with Bill Shanle officiating.
Burial
will be in Steenbergen Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.
Visitation
will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home in Mount
Pulaski.
Thornton
was a heavy machinery mechanic.
He
was born Jan. 14, 1911, at Oakville, Iowa, to Harry and Margaret
(Odell) Thornton. He married Frances B. Davenport in Owen County,
Ind., on Jan. 25, 1934. She died July 7, 1983.
Surviving
are one son, Frank R. (Patricia) Thornton of Springfield; three
daughters, Rosemary (William) Jackson of Springfield, Sue (John)
Young of Farmington, Mo., and Leslie (Donald) Goodman of Ironton,
Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and one
sister.
He
was a member of Operating Engineers 965 of Springfield.

Miss
Webster was a mental health technician at Lincoln Developmental
Center for almost 25 years.
She
was born Aug. 21, 1958, in Lincoln to Noble James and I. Louise (Lockard)
Webster.
Surviving
are her parents, Noble James and Louise Webster Sr. of Lincoln;
three brothers, Noble James Webster Jr., Zachary Kyle Webster and
Cory James Webster, all of Lincoln; and one sister, Kathy Helen
Hopwood of Lincoln.
She
was a member of Lincoln Southern Baptist Church.

A. Merritt, 41, of New Holland died at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14,
2001, at his home.
Funeral
services will be Saturday, Feb. 17, at 10:30 a.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Clyde Shreve officiating.
Burial,
with military rites, will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery, Mount
Pulaski.
Merritt
worked for several years at the U.S. Post Office in Springfield as a
distribution clerk.
He
served in the U.S. Air Force from 1981 to 1990.
He
was born Dec. 20, 1959, in Elgin to Arthur and JoAnn (Weatherly)
Merritt.
Surviving
are his wife, Mary, of New Holland; his parents, of De Soto, Texas;
one brother, Arthur Paul Merritt Jr. of De Soto, Texas; two sisters,
Lisa Magnuson of Dallas, Texas, and Cheryl McCall of Manhattan,
Kan.; and his maternal grandmother, Pearl Weatherly of Lincoln.
He
was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, maternal
grandfather, one brother and one sister.

McLean - Carl
W. Holland, 81, of McLean, died 1:20 PM Thursday, February 15, 2001,
at St. Joseph Hospital, Port Charlotte, Florida.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM
Monday at the McLean Christian Church, McLean. Mr. Tony Billingsley
will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton. The
visitation will take place from 5 - 7 p.m. Sunday at the McLean
Christian Church and also one hour prior to funeral services Monday
morning. Quiram Funeral Home, Atlanta, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Holland was born January 14, 1919
at Kenney, the son of Henry and Edna Moretz Holland. He married
Dorothy Ellen Buck April 16, 1941. She survives.
Also
surviving are two sons Robert (Barbara) Holland and Jack Holland,
both of McLean; three daughters, Marcia (Stewart) Shaffer, McLean;
Susan (Thomas) Lawler, Lincoln; Jill (Michael) Allen, Green Valley;
a sister, Jennie Strauman, Pekin; a brother, Lloyd Holland, Kenney;
a sister-in-law, Virginia Abshire, Kenney; and several great
grandchildren.
Survivors also include 14
grandchildren, Michelle, Michael, and Matthew Ramlow; Buck, Becky,
Bonnie Holland; Brandi Passmore; Kari Nafziger; Katie and Hilary
Shaffer; Jennifer, Ray, and Natalie Allen; and Tyler Holland;
several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents;
two brothers, Presley and Dean Holland; two infant brothers; and one
infant sister.
Mr. Holland went to school in Kenney.
He was a lifelong farmer and retired in 1986. He was on the Board of
Directors of DeWitt County Farm Bureau and DeWitt County Service
Company. He was a member of Waynesville Masonic Lodge, Bloomington
Consistory, Elks in Lincoln, National Rifle Association, and
Champaign County Rifle Association. He was instrumental in
Pro‑Gun Burma Shave Signs seen along the highways in Illinois.
Carl Holland loved his wife of almost
60 years and his family. He loved aviation and antique cars. He will
be truly missed by his family and friends.
