Martha Cornell

Martha E. Cornell, 89, of Lincoln died at 8:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Pastor Darrel Malcom and Dr. Gregory Widener officiating.

Burial will be in Lucas Chapel Cemetery, rural Lincoln.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cornell was a homemaker.

She was born March 9, 1911, in Jackson County, Mo., to John T. and Hulda O. (Grund) Nilson. She married Floyd O. Cornell on June 16, 1945, in Kansas City, Mo. He died June 8, 1989.

Surviving are three daughters, Karen (Darrel) Malcom of Carol Stream, Nancy Ward of Petersburg and Carol (Robert) Norton of Springfield; one sister-in-law, Margaret Nilson of Oregon; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, John and Carl Nilson.

She was a member of Jefferson Street Christian Church in Lincoln and a founding member of West Side Christian Church in Columbia, Mo.

Memorials may be made to Christian Village or the Jefferson Street Christian Church.

Gerald Fargusson

Gerald L. Fargusson, 82, of Lincoln died at 9:55 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Tom Gerdts and Marion Henderson officiating.

Burial, with military rites, will be in Old Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Fargusson retired from Lincoln Christian College as head of the Christian Education Department.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He was born Sept. 14, 1918, in Macomb to Everette and Zola (Huff) Fargusson. He married Frances Elizabeth Peterson on Dec. 27, 1940, in Mount Vernon, Iowa. She died Jan. 5, 1994.

Surviving are two sons, Paul Glenn (Karen) Fargusson of Springfield and Ronald Eugene (Judy) Fargusson of Springfield; one daughter, Marjorie "Trudy" Copeland of Lincoln; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Kyron Fargusson of Sciota; and three sisters, Glenola Jones and Vildra Mansir of Macomb and Kloris Promission of Bushnell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Jerry; and one sister, Wava Poll Edmonds.

Fargussson was founder of Christian Amateur Radio Fellowship and was known as "Mr. Christian Education." He was a member of Lincoln Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to his church or Lincoln Christian College.
