Oller
made the most points for the Lady Railers. She scored two of Lincoln’s
five 3-pointers. She made two additional field goals and two free
throws, for 12 points. Humbert and Cook each made 10 points for the
team. Humbert made three field goals and four free throws. Cook made
five field goals. Ingram scored another two of Lincoln’s five
3-pointers, for six points. Froschauser scored the remaining
3-pointer.
Other
individual statistics for the game were Carey 1-0-2 and Peters
1-0-2. Team totals were 17 field goals and six free throws.

Illini
Central girls vs. Beardstown
In
a tournament at Mason City, Illini Central girls went up against
Beardstown. Illini Central beat Beardstown 61-38.
Illini
Central kept Beardstown from scoring any 3-pointers, while making
four themselves. Damn scored three of those. She also scored three
additional three field goals and six free throws, for 21 points, the
most points scored by an individual in that game. Montgomery scored
the fourth 3-pointer plus two other field goals and two free throws,
for nine points. Winkelman scored 13 points for Illini Central with
six field goals and one free throw.

Hartsburg-Emden boys

Hartsburg-Emden
boys hosted Springfield Ursuline yesterday. Hartsburg-Emden started
out behind, with a 10-14 first quarter. They remained behind at the
end of the first half, 21-32, and in the third quarter, 35-45. At
the end of the fourth quarter the teams were tied 57-57. Hartsburg
pulled off their win in overtime, 72-65.
Aper,
with two of Hartsburg-Emden’s four 3-pointers, scored the most
points for his team. He made seven more field goals in addition to
his 3-pointers, for 20 points. Leesman scored 15 points for his
team. He made five field goals and five free throws. Geason scored
one of Hartsburg-Emden’s 3-pointers. He made a total of two field
goals and seven free throws, for 12 points. Wrage gave the team 11
points from four field goals and three free throws. Anderson made
the fourth of the team’s four 3-pointers. He made a total of two
field goals plus five free throws, for 10 points.
Other
individual statistics for the game were as follows: Behrends 1-0-2
and A. Jones 1-0-2. Team totals were 24 field goals and 20 free

Mount Pulaski boys
vs. Meridian
Mount
Pulaski boys traveled to Meridian for a high-scoring game. Meridian
kept just ahead of Mount Pulaski to win 87-71.
Mount
Pulaski’s Brown scored 22 points in the game. Brown scored two of
Mount Pulaski’s eight 3-point field goals. In total Brown made 10
field goals. Anderson made three of the 3-pointers. In total he
scored six field goals and four free throws, for 19 points. Schlitt
made two of the 3-pointers and Blaum made one. Blaum made one
additional field goal for five points.

individual statistics were as follows: Schilling 2-0-4, Davis 2-1-5,

State
Farm Holiday Classic
Boys
In
the boys Class A championship game in the State Farm Holiday Classic
at Shirk Center on Saturday, Rock Falls maintained a narrow lead
over University High to take first place. The final game score was
43-42.
For
the Class AA championship, Thornwood narrowly beat out Chicago
Marshall. Chicago Marshall was in the lead in the second quarter,
29-27, but fell behind in the third quarter. Thornwood, who beat our
Lincoln Railers, bumping them from the finals Friday night, won the
championship game 65-64.
The
third-place game, played between Chicago Marshall and University
High, was taken by Chicago Marshall. Final score in that game was
66-48.
Class
AA champion Thornwood played Class A champion Rock Falls. Thornwood
beat Rock Falls 64-56, giving Thornwood the boys grand championship
of the State Farm Holiday Classic.
Girls
For
the girls Class A championship in the State Farm Holiday Classic at
Shirk Center, Rock Island Alleman, behind 25-28 in the second
quarter, regained their lead in the third quarter, 46-36, and took
the game, 58-40.
The
girls Class AA championship game was won by Urbana. Urbana played
Galesburg for the title. Urbana had trouble in the second and third
quarters, scoring 28-42 and 48-60. They managed to slide past
Galesburg, though, and win 70-68.
For
third place overall, Rochester played and beat Galesburg. The final
score for that game was 57-52.
Class
A and AA championship winners Rock Island Alleman and Urbana played
for the grand championship. Rock Island Alleman took an early lead
in the first quarter, 13-9, but Urbana took over in the second
quarter, leaving the halftime score at 18-23. The score at the end
of the third quarter also showed Urbana in the lead, 28-48, but Rock
Island Alleman bounced back to win the game, 61-59, and the girls
grand championship title in the State Farm Holiday Classic.

Illini
Central boys vs. Warsaw
Illini
Central boys played Warsaw in a tournament at Macomb. They were
behind in the first half but pulled ahead in the second to win
70-58.
Miller
scored the most points for Illini Central. Miller made 10 field
goals to give the team 20 points. Arnold contributed 17 points to
his team. Arnold scored five field goals and seven free throws for
17 points. Grimsley made one 3-pointer plus two more field goals and
three free throws for 10 points. Other individual statistics for
this game were: Hankins 2-1-5, Fletcher 1-6-8, Giesler 1-2-4 and Jo.
Deters 2-2-6.
Illini
Central vs. Farmington
Illini
Central boys played Farmington in the consolation championship at
Macomb. Farmington took an early lead in the first quarter of the
game, 15-6. In the second quarter they increased their lead to
32-20. Illini Central narrowed the lead in the third quarter to
41-38. They tied at the end of the fourth quarter, 51-51. At the end
of the first overtime the teams were tied 58-58. Illini Central fell
to Farmington in the second overtime, 65-64.
Arnold
made Illini Central’s two 3-pointers for the game. He also made
five additional field goals and six free throws for 22 points.
Miller made six field goals and four free throws for 16 points.
Grimsley made four field goals and four free throws for 12 points.
Other individual statistics for this game were: Fletcher 2-0-4,
Fieser 1-0-2 and Jo. Deters 2-4-8.

Olympia

with a win of 62-47.

Down
by seven (11-4) in the first quarter, Mount Pulaski slid a little
farther and were down by nine (27-16) by halftime.
Then the Hilltoppers woke up. They gave Illinois Valley a
challenge, picking up 16 points and tying the score 32-32 entering the
final quarter. The
sweat poured as Mount Pulaski gained
another 14 points to Illinois Valley's 15 points, leaving
them one excruciating point short of
the win. A
noble fight fought by the Hilltoppers. Final score Illinois Valley
47, Mount Pulaski 46.

The
Railsplitters gave Thornwood a real run for their money in Friday
night's game. Lincoln
trailed by four points at the end of the first quarter, 8-12. The
Railsplitters gave Thornwood a shove, ending the second quarter up by
three points at halftime. Thornwood
pushed back, claiming a 5-point lead by the end of the third
quarter, 32-27. Thornwood kept the
lead, finishing 51-40 over Lincoln.
High
scorer for the game was Alexander with 20 points.
