"The days are getting longer, and as
the tourism season approaches we have traditionally expanded hours
at many of our state's historic sites," said Maynard Crossland,
agency director. "The one extra hour of operation, particularly at our
outdoor sites, allows more visitors to enjoy Illinois' historic
treasures."
Many historic sites that closed at 4
p.m. during the winter months will now stay open until 5 p.m.
through the month of October. Most sites are open Wednesday through
Sunday and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Since March 1 falls on a
Monday this year, the first effective date for the expanded hours
will be Wednesday, March 3.

All sites are closed on the following
holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, General Election
Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day,
Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday, Presidents Day.
Apple River Fort, Elizabeth
Open Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m.
to 5 p.m., March-October.

Tuesday and Wednesday.
