Hilma DePoister
Hilma DePoister, 87, of Mount Pulaski
died Sunday (April 25, 2004) at 1:30 a.m. at her home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m.
Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader in Mount Pulaski, with John
Robertson officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Pulaski
Cemetery.
She worked as a Kroger's assistant
manager and manager in Mount Pulaski and as a telephone operator in
Mount Pulaski. In Lincoln she worked at Stetson's China, Thornton's
Gift Shop and Doty's Jewelers. She also operated Hilma's Paint
Studio in Mount Pulaski.
She was born Sept. 21, 1916, at Lake
Fork to James and Emma Lickens Stratton. She married Leslie
DePoister in Effingham on March 10, 1934. He died Sept. 7, 1985.
She is survived by one son, Leslie (and
Pat) DePoister Jr. of Mount Pulaski; one daughter, Betty (and
Harold) Cates of Lincoln; two grandsons; one granddaughter; five
great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; one brother,
Norman (and Alice) Stratton of Edenberg, Texas; and her twin sister,
Wilma Sharp of Clay City.
She was also preceded in death by six
brothers and four sisters.
She was a member of Mount Pulaski
Christian Church, Loyal Daughters of the church, Rebekah Lodge 313
of Mount Pulaski and Eagles Auxiliary of Lincoln.

Virginia Wibben
Virginia H.L. Wibben, 83, of Emden died
Sunday (April 25, 2004) at 12:20 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial
Hospital in Lincoln.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hartsburg, with the Rev.
David Russell officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m.
Tuesday at the church and one hour before the service on Wednesday.
Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery,
rural Emden.
Mrs. Wibben was a homemaker.
She was born March 19, 1921, at Burton
View to Robert E. and Clara Mueller Sank Sr. She married Reike S.
Wibben on June 15, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo. He died April 19, 2003.
She is survived by one daughter, Janet
Groth of Emden; two sons, Jim (and Marge) Wibben of Atlanta and Jeff
Wibben of Emden; eight grandchildren, Natalie Groth Rozier of
Bloomington, Amy Groth of Lincoln, Julie Benedict of Crestview,
Fla., Matt Presswood of Atlanta, Jody Wibben of Bloomington, Brandon
Wibben of Peoria, Drew Wibben of Williamsville and Cale Wibben of
Emden; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert E. (and
Vernagene) Sank Jr. of Decatur.
She was also preceded in death by two
grandsons.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran
Church of Hartsburg and the Ladies Aid of the church.

Dorothy Rayburn
Dorothy Lena Rayburn, 91, of Lincoln
died Saturday (April 24, 2004) at 12:50 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor in
Lincoln.
Visitation was on Monday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Her funeral was Tuesday morning at the Middletown Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Alan
Dean officiating.
Burial is in Irish Grove Cemetery,
Middletown.
Mrs. Rayburn was a homemaker. She also
worked for the Illinois secretary of state's office for a number of
years and as secretary at New Holland-Middletown High School.
She was born Aug. 18, 1912, at
Middletown to Denton G. and Anna Weaver Boward. She married Thomas
Wilson on June 17, 1934, in Lincoln, and he died March 2, 1942. She
married Floyd Thomas Rayburn on March 12, 1947, in Bloomington. He
died April 3, 1982.
She is survived by two grandsons, Del.
Wilson and Denton Wilson, both of Lincoln; six great-grandchildren;
and a daughter-in-law, Lorna M. Wilson of Lincoln.
She was also preceded in death by one
son, Thomas Wilson; one grandson, Steven Wilson; six brothers, Jim,
Kenneth, Thomas, Louie, Glenn and Paul Boward; and three sisters,
Ima Steinhour, Pearl Ott and Grace Boward.
She was a
member of the Middletown Presbyterian Church, to which memorials may
be made. |
Maxine Klokkenga
Maxine V. Klokkenga, 84,
formerly of Emden, died Monday (April 26, 2004) at 8:40 a.m. at the
Christian Village in Lincoln.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7
p.m. Thursday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Emden. Her funeral
will follow at 7 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Frank Pieper and the
Rev. Roger Olson officiating.
Burial will be in Hartsburg
Union Cemetery.

Home in Lincoln is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Klokkenga was a homemaker.
Before her marriage she taught school in the Lincoln area.
She was born May 10, 1919, at
Clemmons, Iowa, to Floyd and Rose Violet Bryant Brackney. She
married Jacob Elmer "Mike" Klokkenga on at the United Methodist
Church in Lincoln on May 8, 1943. They celebrated 55 years together.
He died June 17, 1998.
She is survived by one son,
James (and Joyce) Klokkenga of Emden; one daughter, Janice (and Jim)
Campbell of San Jose; five grandchildren, Jennifer Jo Campbell of
Paso Robles, Calif., Katherin Ann Klokkenga of LaCrosse, Wis., Molly
Ann Klokkenga of Emden, Kristopher Jacob Klokkenga of Quincy and
Jonathan Andrew Campbell of Jacksonville.
She was also preceded in death
by one brother, Albert "A.J." Brackney. She was the last of her
immediate family.
She was a faithful member of
St. Peter Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid of the church.
She had served as president of
the Illinois Shorthorn Lassies Association.
She graduated from Lincoln High
School and Lincoln College.
The past three years she made
her home at the Christian Village Alzheimer’s unit, where she was
content and at peace. She was lovingly cared for with dignity and
respect by a wonderful staff.

Care of Illinois or the Alzheimer’s unit at the Christian
Village in Lincoln.

Glen Lyman
Glen Lyman, 49, of Cornland died
Saturday (April 24, 2004) at the Formosa Plastic Corporation plant,
rural Illiopolis.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m.
Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m.
Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader in Mount Pulaski, with the Rev.
Carol Andricks officiating.
Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery,
Mount Pulaski.
Mr. Lyman was a poly-operator at the
Illiopolis Formosa plant.
He was born July 12, 1954, in Decatur
to Walter and Tilatha "Tilly" Lyman. He married JoAnn Jones in
Cornland on Dec. 3, 1994.
He is survived by his wife, of Cornland;
one daughter, Kim Brion of Topeka, Kan.; one stepdaughter, Gwen
Stopher of Mount Pulaski; two stepsons, J. Norman Stopher Jr. of
Fort Madison, Iowa, and Oscar Lee Stopher, address unknown; two
grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren; one brother, Richard
Lyman of Decatur; and a half brother, J. Norman Stopher Sr. of Mount
Pulaski.
He was preceded in death by his
parents.

June Green
June L. Green, 87, formerly of
McLean and Kenosha, Wis., died Thursday (April 22, 2004) at 7:30
p.m. at the ASTA Care Center of Bloomington.
Her body was cremated. No
visitation is scheduled.
A graveside service will be at
a later date at Funks Grove Cemetery, rural McLean, with the Rev. Al
Simonson officiating.
Quiram Funeral Home of Atlanta
handled arrangements.
Mrs. Green worked as a nurse's
aide and in housekeeping for a number of years in Kenosha, Wis., and
later at BroMenn in Normal. She later worked at and retired from
Bergner's Department Store in Bloomington.
She was born June 4, 1916, at
Wapella to LeMoine and Nellie Hickman Longbrake. She married Charles
W. Green on May 9, 1937, at Beason. He died Dec. 3, 1991.
She is survived by five sons,
Harold (and Georgia) Green of Atlanta, Charles R. (and Gail) Green
of El Cerito, Calif., Gerald (and Sue) Green of Kenosha, Wis.,
Darcey (and Laurie) Green of McLean and Steven Green of Minier; one
daughter, Linda (and Larry) Schumm of Beason; nine grandchildren;
and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death
by two brothers and one sister.
She was a member of the McLean
Order of Eastern Star, McLean Ladies Aid, Home Extension of Mount
Hope Township and a bridge club in McLean. She had also been a 4-H
leader.
