Lemonade sweetened by charity     Send a link to a friend

[AUG. 23, 2004]  Three cousins were taught by their grandmother about sharing with less fortunate children. The cousins sold lemonade and homemade chocolate chip cookies at their families' garage sale Friday and Saturday, July 30 and 31. Their efforts were duplicated by their grandma, Roberta "Bobi" Frye, with a check in the same amount from her business, Frye's Upholstery Recovery Room.

The children presented their $43.50 and Mrs. Frye's $43.50 check to Shanda Roderick, co-chairman of Beta Sigma Phi's "Backpacks for Kids" project.

Pictured left to right are Shanda, Brooklyn Hermes, 5, Shelbi Frye, 8, and in front, Blake Hermes, 3.

Carl and Sondra Frye Hermes are the parents of Brooklyn and Blake. Duane Frye and Lija Frye are the parents of Shelbi.
