Monument bricks to honor Logan County veterans     Send a link to a friend

Thank you, AMVETS Post 71, Les Van Bibber and Arnie Haak, for stepping up for our veterans in Logan County. What a wonderful way to commemorate their services to this country and to show our honor and respect to their memories.

Because of their sacrifice, our freedoms are alive and well and our children live in the light, while many in other, less fortunate lands still search in the darkness to find theirs!

These monument bricks can be our way of saying to those who have given their all: "Thank you for being willing to stand in harm's way for all those you have loved and who have loved you!"

[to top of second column in this letter]

Let's all get behind this effort and put a commemorative monument brick on every inch of our Veterans Park. As the white crosses in Flanders Field stand in honor of the brave, let these bricks cover the park in honor of our Logan County heroes.

1 John 4:18 says, "There is no fear in love; for perfect love casts out fear." Thank you, sons and daughters of Logan County, for having and giving that "perfect love" for us!

In praise of city engineer Mark Mathon          Send a link to a friend

Dear LDN:

I wanted to take this opportunity to praise the work of city engineer Mark Mathon. The recently completed downtown street project is just another example of the positive momentum Lincoln is now generating.

My guess is that in a job like Mark's, he either gets lots of complaints or is simply ignored. I do not want to be a resident who does either one, but simply says thank you for sharing your energy, your knowledge and your expertise among us here in Logan County.

Mark is a young man who possesses a great education, is a hard worker and loves to see our city improve. I only want to say, "Nice job and keep up the good work!"
