New slow moving vehicle emblems required     Send a link to a friend

From John Fulton

[AUG. 23, 2004]  Beginning Sept. 1, new slow moving vehicle emblem standards will be enforced. The new law requires that the emblems certify compliance with ASAE S276.5. These new emblems are twice as durable, 10 times brighter and provide visibility for 1,000 feet. The certification may be checked by looking in the bottom of the familiar orange triangle and finding the certification.

New SMV emblems may be purchased at most farm equipment dealers, farm supply stores, or county Farm Bureau offices. Make sure the new emblem you purchase is compliant with the new regulation, as many stores will still offer the old emblems. (The new emblems aren't required in every state). Violations of the law may result in fines of up to $75 per incident.
