Kirk Whiteman,
Lincoln College women's golf coach, has just four players on his
squad at the present time as they prepare for the season opener
Wednesday at the Links in Jacksonville.

"We are going to be short-handed;
however, we have some quality golfers," said Whiteman. "Stacy Weaver
and Carlie Facker both return from last season, and we are looking
for them to have a more consistent game this season. With the
experience they gained last season, they should both have good years
ahead of them. I look for Carlie to have a breakout year, as she is
a hard worker with a lot of determination to improve. I would like
to find another player or two as walk-on, which would help our team
play greatly."
Weaver is a Warrensburg-Latham High
School graduate, while Facker hails from Eureka High School. Joining
the two on the squad are Jenine Pelegvoin, an Orland Park sophomore
who graduated from Carl Sandburg High School, and Shayla Croy, a
freshman who graduated from St. Anthony High School in Effingham.

"Shayla has been shooting in the low to
mid-90s all summer, and we look for her to have a good season, if
she can make the adjustment to playing the longer college courses,"
said Whiteman. "Jenine just started playing golf last year, and she
is a member of the LC swim team.
"We have upgraded the schedule somewhat
this season, as we play in the Western Illinois tourney in Macomb
against several Division I schools. Several junior college teams
will also be competing in the tourney, and this will give us a good
idea of where we stand, leading up to the Region 24 tourney."
