LINCOLN -- Vernon L. Banister, 83, of Lincoln, died
Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at 6:34 a.m. at Maple Ridge Care
Centre.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Jacob
Skelton and Greg Wooten officiating. Visitation will be one
hour before the service.
Burial will be in Irish Grove Cemetery, Middletown.
Mr. Banister was a retired farmer and former employee of
Myers Industries.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was born March 9, 1921, in Menard County to Samuel and
Lottie Whiteman Banister. He married Virginia Bristow in
Lincoln on June 29, 1945.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Dallas (and Kay)
Banister of Girard; two grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Evelyn Ware of Fulton,
Mo., and Kathryn Voyles, Phyllis Deavers and Vivian Skelton,
all of Lincoln.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Irene
Banister; one brother, Charles Banister; and two sisters,
Darlene Skelton and Delores Armour.
He was a member of the Sweetwater Christian Church,
Sweetwater, and the Middletown American Legion.

LINCOLN -- Virgil L. Hudson,
72, of Lincoln died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at his home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7
p.m. Thursday at Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln. His funeral
will be at 10 a.m. Friday, also at the funeral home, with
Pastor Carnahan of Zion Lutheran Church officiating.
Burial will be in Richmond
Grove Cemetery, New Holland.
Mr. Hudson was retired from
the real estate business after working with several firms in
the Lincoln area. He was currently working part time with
Louise Carter Cleaning.
He proudly served his country
in the Army during the Korean War.
He was born Oct. 4, 1932, in
Joliet to Virgil L. and Ceola Reynolds Hudson. He married
Shirley Ann Worth on Dec. 19, 1969, in Lincoln. She died June
7, 2004.
He is survived by two sons,
Virgil L. Hudson IV (and Margo) of Lincoln and Michael Roos
(and Keena), also of Lincoln, and by six beautiful
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by
his parents and his loving wife of 35 years, Shirley.
He was a member of Zion
Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorial
donations may be made to the church or Abraham Lincoln
Memorial Hospital.

MIDDLETOWN -- Eileen Dorgan Johnson, 88, of Middletown,
died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at 1:25 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor
in Lincoln.
Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10 a.m. Thursday at
Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln. There will be a prayer
service at 9:15 a.m.
Her funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy
Family Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. R. Anthony Lee
officiating.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs. Johnson was an office manager for International
Harvester in Chicago. She retired in 1974.
She was born Sept. 25, 1916, in Middletown to James and
Sadye Guttery Dorgan.
She married Fred A. Johnson in May of 1937. He died Aug. 8,
2001, in Hendersonville, N.C.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two
sisters.
She was a member of Holy Family Church.
