Commission suspends officer without pay following arrest     Send a link to a friend

[DEC. 22, 2004]  Lincoln fire and police commissioners met Tuesday evening (Dec. 21) to discuss discipline measures of Diana R. Short, a corporal with the Lincoln Police Department.

A raid of her home on Dec. 15 by Illinois State Police drug task force members revealed a small production of 15 cannabis plants. Short was arrested and charged with three counts in the production of the cannabis, the intent to deliver the same for profit and the production of cannabis sativa plants.

Chairman Rex Mallekoote, Jim Levi and Joe Hanning met to discuss her suspension. It was decided that she would be suspended without pay until a hearing set on Jan. 4, 2005, at 6 p.m. in City Hall chambers. At that time, with probable cause on petition, she may be suspended or dismissed.

Tom Funk conducted the hearing. Police Chief Robert Rawlins and Buzz Busby, the city council's law enforcement chairman, were in attendance.
