Abe Lincoln's birthday celebration     Send a link to a friend

[JAN. 30, 2004]  MIDDLETOWN -- The Knapp-Chesnut-Becker Historical Society has scheduled an Abe Lincoln birthday celebration during an open house at the Knapp Library and Museum on Sunday, Feb. 8, from 2 to 4 p.m.

The society has acquired a chromolithograph of Abe Lincoln in 1864 and wishes to share it with the public. The picture, by E.C. Middleton, is called "Poor Man's Portrait." Lincoln's letter to Middleton in reaction to the chromolithograph will be available.

Another highlight will be Mary Todd Lincoln's vanilla-almond cake.

The event is free and the public is invited.

The library building is handicapped-accessible.
