Schahl
Clifford Schahl, 76, of Mount Pulaski
died Sunday (Feb. 8, 2004) at 7:20 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center
in Springfield.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m.
Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday
at Mount Pulaski Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul
Droegemueller officiating.
Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery,
Mount Pulaski.
Mr. Schahl was office manager at FS in
Lincoln before he retired. He had also been a farmer.
He was born Nov. 23, 1927, in Mount
Pulaski to Norman and Ruby Mittelsteadt Schahl. He married Lois
Armour in Mount Pulaski on Feb. 1, 1948.
He is survived by his wife; two sons,
Larry (and Janet) Schahl of Mount Pulaski and David (and Sharon)
Schahl of Chatham; three daughters, Joellyn (and Darrell) Nall of
Bloomington, Jean (and Harry) Hild of Buffalo and Jane (and Dan)
Lewis of Atkinson; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and four
sisters, Louetta (and Bob) Lewis of Mount Pulaski, Shirley Jean
Helton of Springfield, Janet White of Mount Pulaski and Judith (and
Jerry) Wessel of Lockport.
He was preceded in death by his
parents.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church
in Mount Pulaski and was a Sunday school teacher there. He was also
a member of the Toastmasters in Waverly, the National Society of
Accountants for Cooperatives, Mount Pulaski Historical Society, and
Logan County Historical and Genealogical Society. He was a volunteer
for the Mount Pulaski Courthouse and Museum.

Church or Zion Lutheran School in Mount Pulaski.

Spencer Goff
Spencer L. Goff, 61, of Lincoln died
Saturday (Feb. 7, 2004), at 2:45 p.m. in the emergency room at
Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.
Tuesday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m.
Wednesday at Holland and Barry, with the Rev. Mike Tozer
officiating.
Mr. Goff was the retired owner and
president of Goff Linen Co. of Springfield and Superior Linen Co. of
Las Vegas, Nev.
He was born Aug. 29, 1942, in
Springfield to Virgil C. Sr. and Freda Kamees Goff. He married
Mickey L. Goetsch on May 6, 1977, in Springfield.
Survivors are his wife, of Lincoln;
four children, Spencer A. Goff of Springfield, Michel A. Goff (and
Julie) of Springfield, Donald L. Goff (and Melissa) of Springfield
and Denise A. Risinger (and James) of Mackinaw; 11 grandchildren;
and three sisters, Jolene McCarty (and James Sr.), Betty Young (and
Ralph) and Wanda Overby (and Gerald), all of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents
and one brother, Virgil Goff Jr.
Besides his work in the linen business,
he was a dairy farmer, avid gardener and enjoyed gourmet cooking.
He was a graduate of Lanphier High
School in Springfield and attended the American Laundry Institute
and the Chicago Culinary School.

George Martin
George William "Bill" Martin Sr. died
Saturday (Feb. 7, 2004) at 9:06 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial
Hospital.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.
Tuesday at Quiram Funeral Home, Atlanta.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday at Quiram, with Andy Glass officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Valley
Cemetery, Kenney.
Mr. Martin retired from Atlanta
Thermogas in 1985.
He was born March 1, 1924, at Mitchell,
Ind., to William Jordan and Iona Speer Martin. He married Norma J.
Huebner on Oct. 24, 1943, at Clinton. She died March 13, 2002.
Survivors are two sons, Bill (and
Zelma) Martin of Atlanta and Ken (and Vicki) Martin of Atlanta; six
grandchildren, one great-grandson; and one brother, W.D. "Pep"
Martin of Kenney.
He was also preceded in death by two
brothers, one sister and one granddaughter.
He was a member of the Kenney Christian
Church.
Memorial

or the Atlanta Rescue Squad.
Gregory
Heinzel-Slater
Gregory L. Heinzel-Slater, 40, of
Mabelvale, Ark., formerly of Lincoln, died Saturday (Feb. 7, 2004)
at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences center in
Little Rock, Ark., following a short-term illness with cancer.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m.
Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m.
Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with Chad Ragsdale officiating.
Burial will be in New Union Cemetery,
Lincoln.
Mr. Heinzel-Slater was manager of
Blockbuster Video in Little Rock, Ark.
He
was born Sept. 26, 1963, in Lincoln.
He
is survived by his mother and stepfather, Carolyn Sue (Proctor) and
Brad Slater of Lincoln; two brothers, Randy (and Michelle) Heinzel
of Lincoln and Tom (and Teri) Perry of Lincoln; one sister, Kerri
Slater of Lincoln; his paternal grandparents, Harold and Virlee
Slater of Quincy; and a close friend, Neal Reed of Little Rock, Ark.
He
was preceded in death by his father, Edward “Tony” Heinzel, and his
maternal grandparents.
