More birthday celebrations

[FEB. 13, 2004]  The Postville Courthouse State Historic Site, 915 Fifth St., will host Abraham Lincoln's birthday party from noon to 4 p.m. on Feb. 14. Abraham Lincoln practiced law at this location when he rode the old 8th Judicial Circuit.

Historians Paul Beaver and Paul Gleason will give short talks on the hour in the historic courtroom. Lincoln artifacts will be on display, Thomas A. Quinn will play period guitar music, and David McCall Johnston will be at the site with a few Lincoln-related paintings.

The public is invited to come tour the facility and enjoy a piece of birthday cake.

Abe's birthday will also be celebrated at the Logan County Courthouse from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday. There will be contests for children of all ages, and refreshments will be available.
