State speech results for LCHS     Send a link to a friend

[FEB. 23, 2004]  The Lincoln Community High School speech team competed on Friday and Saturday at Naperville Central High School at the IHSA State Speech Tournament. Tom Swanson, a junior, advanced to the final round of special occasion speaking, finishing sixth.

Not advancing to the finals were Doug Rohrer and Brandon Davis, seventh in dramatic duet; Audrey Beach, eighth in radio and oratory; Kathryn Muck, ninth in dramatic interpretation; Brian Welter, 13th in original comedy; and Tom Swanson, 17th in prose.

Ed Jodlowski, one of the coaches for the Lincoln team, said: "Our goal always is for the kids to come home with a medal, and Tom achieved that. It was very exciting that he did so well. The state tournament is always very difficult. We are happy with the other results because Doug, Brandon, Audrey and Kathryn were so close to advancing to the final round."
