[JAN. 17, 2004]  Lincoln's going to the dogs! That's right, with the Dog Daze of Summer just around the corner (only five months away!) Main Street Lincoln is getting ready to launch the second year of "Who Let the Dogs Out" downtown dog art.

Twelve fiberglass dogs will be delivered from Cowpainter Inc in Chicago in March, and local artists will have 11 weeks to complete their creation.

The dogs will start their downtown display on Dog Daze, June 19, and will continue their stay for 10 weeks, ending at a live auction Saturday, Aug. 28, at The Art of Wine.

Benefits for sponsors and artists:

~Dogs to be on display downtown.

~Signage, brochures, advertisement for 10 weeks.

~Local and outside media advertisement.

~Dogs to be displayed at The Art of Wine, which saw over 3,000 guests last year!

~This year Main Street Lincoln will print calendars featuring one dog per month with sponsor and artist info.

Sponsorships are $300. Artists must provide all supplies and work space. If a sponsor does not have an artist lined up, please call (217) 732-2929 as soon as possible and Main Street Lincoln will provide one.

This was a great event last year and this year promises to only be better!

With such a great community event and the profit being used to strengthen our historic downtown, it's hard not to participate!

Thank you to everyone who participated last year. Tell your friends how much fun you had with your Fido and encourage them to participate in the fun!
