'Backpacks for Kids' project     Send a link to a friend

[JULY 14, 2004]  While it hardly seems it, the summer is half over and in about another six weeks school will begin again. A local program that helps less fortunate school kids is under way. Backpacks are being filled with all the supplies needed for the appropriate grade for all school-age children K-6.

You can help make this project a success if your child needs school supplies or if you would like to donate supplies.

An application must be filled out before Aug. 2 to receive school supplies. If you have a medical card, food stamps or extenuating circumstances with finances, you will be eligible.

For applications or to make donations, please contact the YMCA office at 735-3915 or (800) 282-3520 or visit 319 W. Kickapoo St.

This year's "Backpacks for Kids" is sponsored by Beta Sigma Phi and Lincoln Area YMCA in loving memory of Wyatt Mitchell Wedgeworth. May his smile continue through the children of our community.
