Midnight power outage quickly rectified

[JULY 19, 2004]  Did your alarm go off late or was the microwave light flashing at you this morning? Unless you found some electrical disturbance evidence of that kind, you probably would not know that there was a brief power outage last night.

Ameren Corporation representative Leigh Morris said that a subtransformer at a substation at the Lincoln Kickapoo hub had a mechanical failure.

Morris said that the power went out at 12:53 a.m. this morning (Monday). By 1:13 a.m. electricity restoration began. By 1:26 a.m. “everybody” had power again, he said.

Only Ameren CILCO customers were affected. The outage affected 17,200 customers in four counties: Logan, Sangamon, Mason and Tazewell.
