Once again Lincoln has lost another
well-known man.
"Ace" Hinman passed away this last
weekend. Ace was well-known for his love of sports and of kids. He
served the Lincoln sport scene for many, many years.
Ace was Lincoln's curmudgeon for as
long as I knew him. I loved this part of Ace and I used to call him
Lincoln's answer to Andy Rooney.
I can still remember the days and days
of playing basketball with Ace and Jerry "Loop" Alberts at Jefferson
School. Those, of course, were kinder times. Ace was one of the best
basketball players I ever saw -- and -- he never gave up! I will
always remember Ace as one of my best friends.
My wife (Marilyn Derrickson Weindorf)
and I extend our condolences and best wishes to Scotty and the
children. Ace will always be in our hearts.
