Hulda Bitner

Hulda I. Bitner, 101, formerly of Mason City, died Wednesday (March 3, 2004) at 3:45 p.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City, with the Rev. Curt McCallister officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery.

Mrs. Bitner was a cook at Robertsons' Cafe in Mason City for many years.

She was born July 16, 1902, at Hopedale to William and Ellen Cochran. She married Claude Channing Bitner in 1924, and he died in 1959.

She is survived by seven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by six brothers; one sister; three sons, Donald, Lyle and Dale Bitner; and one granddaughter.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mason City.

Memorials may be made to the church or to Hospice Care of Illinois.
