Mabel James
Mabel Maxine James, 79, of Lincoln died
Monday (March 22, 2004) at 12:24 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial
Hospital.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.
Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with Robert McClintock officiating.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery,
Lincoln.
Mrs. James was a homemaker.
She was born April 30, 1924, in
Metcalfe County, Ky., to Willie Earnest and Mattie Lee Taylor
Coffey.
She married Bernie Russell James on
Dec. 21, 1938, in Franklin, Ky. He died Jan. 29, 1989.
She is survived by two sons, Jerry
Wayne James and Jesse Dalton James, both of Lincoln; one daughter,
Shelia Kay Foster of Elkhart, nine grandchildren; 18
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother,
Kenneth Windell Coffey of Edmonton, Ky.; and one sister, Gertie
Marie Shockley of Edmonton, Ky.
She was also preceded in death by one
brother, one sister, and one son, Larry James.
She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of
Jehovah's Witnesses.

Heart Association or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Dorothy Gallagher
Dorothy Fullerton Gallagher, 87, of
Lincoln died Sunday (March 21, 2004) at 6:45 p.m. at Memorial
Medical Center in Springfield.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.
Friday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday
at Holland and Barry.
Following a funeral luncheon, interment
will be in Atlanta Cemetery at 3 p.m.
Ms. Gallagher retired from the
Department of Public Aid, where she had been a case worker. She
previously taught school in Williamsville.
She was born Sept. 3, 1916, in Lincoln
to Leslie Frank and Emma Pedigo Fullerton.
She is survived by two daughters,
Sharon G. Smith of Sherman and Leslieann Gallagher (and John H.
McKay) of Evergreen, Colo., and one grandson.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She attended Lindenwood College at St.
Charles, Mo.

Mary
Rakowski
Mary Rakowski, 80, of Lincoln, formerly
of Elkhart, died Friday (March 19, 2004) at 9 a.m. at her home.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday
at Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Michael Drake officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Elkhart Cemetery,
Elkhart.
Miss Rakowski was a housekeeper and a
foster grandparent in Lincoln.
She was born Feb. 10, 1924, in Chicago
to Frank and Elizabeth Kocanda Rakowski.
She is survived by two nephews, James
(and Kathy) Carver of Quincy and Raymond Carver of Jacksonville.
She was preceded in death by one
sister, Bessie Ambrose.

Diana Blaum
Diana Lee Blaum, 56,
of Springfield, formerly of Lincoln, died Sunday (March 21, 2004) at
11:04 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Visitation will be
from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home
in Lincoln.
Her funeral will be
at 1 p.m. Thursday at Lincoln Christian Church, with Tom Gerdts
officiating.
Burial will be in New
Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs. Blaum was
administrative assistant of education at Robert Morris College in
Springfield. She was also a hairdresser.
She was born Jan. 29,
1948, in Logan County to James Pence and Eleanor Mae Snyder Pence.
She married Roger L. Blaum on May 3, 1969, in Lincoln. He died July
15, 1996.
She is survived by
three sons, Adam C. (and Christy) Blaum of Troy, Nathan W. (and Amy)
Blaum of Nokomis and Sean M. Blaum of Peoria; one daughter, Kate E.
Blaum of Miami, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
She was also preceded
in death by one daughter, Molly.
She was a member of
Lincoln Christian Church and the Alpha Beta Gamma honor society.

Children's Hospital or the American Diabetes Foundation.

Mary Montgomery Leith, 79, of Morton,
formerly of Lincoln, died Sunday (March 21, 2004) at 7:25 p.m. at
Pekin Hospital, Pekin.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.
Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. A
prayer service will follow at 7 p.m.
Her funeral will be at 9:30 a.m.
Thursday at Holy Family Church in Lincoln, with Monsignor Edward
Higgins officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery,
Lincoln.
She was formerly a cook in the dietary
departments at St. Clara's, Vonderlieth and Abraham Lincoln Memorial
Hospital.
She was born Aug. 25, 1924, in Lincoln
to Andrew and Alma Bicknell Schahl. She married Richard Montgomery
on Oct. 10, 1944, and he died Jan. 28, 1974.
She is survived by three sons, Jon (and
Sharon) Montgomery of Ballston Spa, N.Y., Larry (and Joyce)
Montgomery of Fort Branch, Ind., and Steve (and Jan) Montgomery of
Lincoln; one daughter, Debora (and Bill) Michael of Groveland; 11
grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was an only child and was the last
of her immediate family.
She was a member of Holy Family Church
of Lincoln, American Business Women's Association and American
Legion Auxiliary, of which she was president in 1977. She was also a
foster grandparent.
She was a wonderful mom, dearly loved
and will be missed by her family.

Reynolds
Phyllis Reynolds, 72, of Lincoln died

She was a mental health technician at
Lincoln Developmental Center before she retired.
She was born Jan. 31, 1932, in Lincoln
to George H. and Minnie J.C. Buse Sutton.
She is survived by one daughter, Lora
(and Rodney) Dove of Lincoln; four grandchildren, including a
granddaughter she raised, Miranda Reynolds of Lincoln; one
great-grandchild; three sisters, Ruth Ann (and Dean) Joyce of
Lincoln, Cheryl (and Jerome) Daniels of Tucson, Ariz., and Linda
Shawgo of Tucson, Ariz.; and five brothers, Ronald (and Lydia)
Sutton of Bloomington, Robert (and Sara) Sutton of Lincoln, Thomas
Sutton of Lincoln, Roger (and Nancy) Sutton of Lincoln and David
(and Marilyn) Sutton of Taylorville.
Two brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.
