Lincoln College president plans to retire

[MAY 25, 2004]  Lincoln College President Ronald Schilling has announced his intention to retire from the college at the end of June 2005. He has been with Lincoln College for 20 years, serving as the college president for the last two years.

Schilling says his decision is based solely on personal reasons. "I appreciate the opportunity to lead one of the premier junior colleges in the Midwest. However, after 42 years of being an educator, I feel it is time for a change," said Schilling.

Wilbur Paulus, chairman of the college's board of trustees, said that Lincoln College plans to start a presidential search on June 1. Schilling accepted a contract extension until 2005.

Schilling joined Lincoln College in February 1984. During his tenure, Lincoln College has seen tremendous growth in building projects and enrollment numbers for both the Lincoln and Normal campuses. Schilling was responsible for the team that completed a self-study report to the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, resulting in the college receiving the highest recommendation for accreditation, and was granted a 10-year time frame before having to go through the accreditation process again. He was instrumental in implementing a strategic five-year master plan for both the Lincoln and Normal sites.
