Vera Hickey
Vera Mae Hickey, 89, of Armington died
Monday (May 24, 2004) at 7:14 p.m. at the Hopedale Medical Complex,
Hopedale.
Her funeral will be at 3:30 p.m.
Saturday at the Armington Christian Church. Ed Loyd and Victor
Ramsey will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the
service.
Burial will be in Oak View Cemetery,
rural Armington.
Quiram Funeral Home, Atlanta, is in
charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hickey was a homemaker.
She was born Aug. 21, 1914, at Hidalgo,
to Roscoe C. and Cynthia Alma Houser Hutson. She married Homer E.
Hickey on April 8, 1933, in Lincoln. He died July 16, 1986.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary
Ellen (and Paul) Lathim of Vero Beach, Fla., and Cheryl (and Joe)
Johnson of Las Cruces, N.M.; two sons, John (and Judith) Hickey of
Safety Harbor, Fla., and David Hickey of Armington; nine
grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Armington
Christian Church.
Memorial
contributions may be made to the church or to the Armington Rescue
Squad.
Florence Hill
Florence M. Hill, 89, of Atlanta died
Monday (May 24, 2004) at 8:30 a.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln.
Her funeral will be at
1:30 p.m. Thursday at Quiram Funeral Home, Atlanta, with David Harmon
officiating. Visitation was on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Bluegrass Cemetery,
rural Atlanta.
Mrs. Hill was a homemaker and had
worked at Hornes Restaurant and the Dixie Truckers Home in McLean.
She was born Feb. 1, 1915, at
Lexington, Neb., to John and Cora Davis Wheeler. She married Paul E.
Hill on Aug. 4, 1930, in White Hall. He died May 9, 1975.
She is survived by three daughters,
Ruby Newingham of Roodhouse, Pauline (and John) Kelly of Albany,
N.Y., and Karen (and Jewel) Cook of Atlanta; five sons, John Hill,
Roy Hill, Pat Hill and Fred Hill, all of Atlanta, and Murl Hill of
Bloomington; 27 grandchildren, including Donald Lee (and Lisa) Hill,
whom she raised; numerous great-grandchildren; and two sisters,
Dorothy Woodward of Pittsfield and Mary Lowery of Hamilton.
She was also preceded in death by one
son, Gary Leon Hill, and one daughter, Florence May, who was
Donald's mother.
Memorial

Weldon 'Pete' Frantz
Weldon B. "Pete" Frantz, 87, of Lincoln
died Monday (May 24, 2004) at 2 p.m. at the Christian Nursing Home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m.
Friday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln. Masonic rites
will be conducted at 8 p.m.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday
at the First United Methodist Church of Lincoln, with the Rev. Julie
Azbell officiating.
Burial, with military rites, will be in
New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mr. Frantz served as Logan County
treasurer from 1962 to 1966 and as Logan County clerk from 1966 to
1994. He was also a retired accountant.
He served as a B17 pilot in the Army
Air Corps during World War II. He was shot down in Europe and was a
prisoner of war for 14 months.
He was born June 9, 1916, in Mason
City, Iowa, to Marion C. and Jennie Brandt Frantz. He married Jane
Ellen Warrick on June 15, 1941, and she died Oct. 18, 1973. He
married Josephine Bonansinga on May 28, 1982, in Springfield, and
she died Feb. 24, 2003.
He is survived by two children, Peter
J. Frantz (and Carol) of Lincoln and Janeann Meredith (and Tom) of
Grays Lake; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Frantz (and Eszter) of
London, England, Jennifer Sugg (and Alan) of Naperville, Janelle
Stewart (and Gregg) of Mount Pleasant, Mich., and Tracey Meredith of
Rantoul; one great-grandson, Ian Stewart of Mount Pleasant, Mich.;
and one sister, Barbara Swearingen of Atlanta.
He was also preceded in death by one
brother, Welby Frantz, and one sister, Margaret Moore.
He was a member of the First United
Methodist Church, American Legion Post 263 and Eagles Club of
Lincoln. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriners
Club member for many years. He had been an Elks Club member since
1940 and served as secretary for many years.
He served on the school board for
Lincoln Elementary District 27 for a number of years and on the
first board for the Lincoln Park District. He was home services
director for the Red Cross for several years. He was also a board
member of the senior citizens center.

April Bishop
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln has announced local funeral arrangements for April Bishop,
formerly of Lincoln. A service at the funeral home will be at 2 p.m.
Thursday, with Tom Gerdts officiating. Visitation will be one hour
before the service.
Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery.
Miss Bishop, 19, died April 12, 2004,
in Portage, Wis.
A memorial service was conducted in
Gibson City on April 18.
She was born June 19, 1984, in Lincoln.
She is survived by her mother, Karen
Seaman LaRue of Dalton, Wis.; her father and stepmother, Mike and
Marni Bishop of Gibson City; two sisters, Rhonda (and John) Seffron
of Omaha, Neb., and Danica LaRue of Dalton, Wis.; one brother,
Michael Bishop Jr. of Dalton, Wis.; three half sisters, Shana (and
Philip) Scoggins of Roanoke, Texas, and Jaisi and Laini Bishop of
Gibson City; and her paternal grandparents, Robert and Josephine
Bishop.
She was preceded in death by her
maternal grandparents.
She was a member of Lincoln Christian
Church.
