Annual kids' event draws usual crowd of beauties and creepies     Send a link to a friend

[NOV. 1, 2004]  Halloween Fun Fest was an absolute success. Last Thursday local youth were invited to the annual event that takes place at the Lincoln Park District facility. Over 500 children flocked to the free event, with a total of 1,100 to 1,200 including family members. A spokesman for the park district said he was very glad to see the level of participation in the families.

Maple Ridge Care Centre, Logan County 4-H, Lincoln Public Library, ESDA, the Girl Scouts, Lincoln City Fire Department and Lincoln Police Department rounded out the agencies that sponsored games. Lincoln Park District was responsible for 11 of the 16 games that were offered.

The judges' table was challenged to choose winners from 300 competitors. The "esteemed panel of judges" was composed of Park District Commissioner Dave Perring, Lincoln Rural Fire Protection District Fire Chief Bob Thomas, Logan County Sheriff Steve Nichols, Lincoln City Police Chief Bob Rawlings and Lincoln City Fire Department Chief Bucky Washam. The men worked hard to earn their meager wages of a bottle of water.

The success of Halloween Fun Fest is achieved by cooperation of the local business community and volunteers. The event is financed by local businesses. The National Honor Society of LCHS was the backbone of the labor pool.
