Taking a 'Peek at the Week' ahead, Nov. 1-7

[NOV. 1, 2004]  Good Monday morning (or afternoon)! Not that you're not saturated with reminders, but.... Election Day is tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov. 2).

Also this week:

Tuesday, Nov. 2, 10 a.m. -- Chamber Membership Committee meeting in the chamber office

Friday, Nov. 5, 5-7 p.m. -- Chamber Mixer at Investment Center, State Bank of Lincoln's Sangamon Street Branch, 111 N. Sangamon St. Join Doug DeMay for this 10th anniversary celebration!

Out and about in the Logan County communities.....

Today (Monday, Nov. 1), noon to 6 p.m., blood drive at the Logan County Paramedic Association building. At this time, there is an urgent need for type O and type A blood. The Central Illinois Community Blood Center is the sole supplier for our local hospital, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, as well as other health care facilities in central Illinois. The blood center needs donors, volunteers and good ambassadors. Today's blood bank is sponsored by the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Downtown Lincoln Holiday Open House, Nov. 6 and 7. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Includes carriage rides, carolers, live entertainment throughout the streets, door prize drawings, refreshments and live window displays.

Also, downtown Lincoln businesses are coordinating a project to direct travelers off the interstate and into the downtown area. Nineteen businesses are already committed to a three-year "Experience Historic Downtown Lincoln" interstate sign, and eight more are needed (at $187). For more information, contact Melody Shew at MKS Jewelers, 732-6520.

Have a terrific week.
