LINCOLN -- Sheril D. "Smokey"
Fannin, 73, of Lincoln died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at 9:30
a.m. at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. His funeral
will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev.
Timothy Priest officiating.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mr. Fannin retired in 1992 from St. Gobain Container Corp.
in Lincoln, where he was a line worker.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was born March 10, 1931, at Heyworth. He married Frieda
McCoy in 1956. Later he married Pat Brazzell in Lincoln on May
4, 1969. She died July 8, 1994.
Surviving family members are two sons, Marty (and Anselma
"Smith") Fannin of Pontiac and David Seaman of Indiana; two
daughters, Glenda Logan of Lincoln and Susan (and Doug) Newman
of Lincoln; eight grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Fannin;
his father; and his grandparents who raised him, William
Harrison and Myrtle Angeline McGuire Fannin.
He was an avid pool player, cook and music collector. He
also enjoyed bowling.
Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart League, Walls, Miss.,
or St. Jude's Children's Research.

ATLANTA -- Bonnie J. Brooks,
77, of Atlanta, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at 5:20 a.m. at
Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln, where she had resided
since 2001.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Atlanta
Christian Church, with Ralph O. Swarthout officiating.
Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery.
Quiram Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Brooks served as postmaster in Atlanta for several
years. Before being employed by the U.S. Postal Service, she
worked for Stetson China Company in Lincoln.
She was born Oct. 22, 1927, at Pittsfield to Charles and
Leta Bain Shinn. She married Charles G. Brooks on April 4,
1945, at Henderson, Ky., He died Nov. 9, 1993.
She is survived by five children, Dennis (and Donna) Brooks
of Blue Mound, Randy (and Shelly) Brooks of Atlanta, Gale (and
Tom) Miller of Atlanta, Brenda (and Jeff) Gordon of Branson,
Mo., and Angela (and Ed) Page of El Paso; one foster daughter,
Wanda (and Hal) Gray of Bloomington; 12 grandchildren and one
step-granddaughter; and four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her
stepfather, Basil Hendricks; and her stepmother, Mickey Shinn.
She was a member of the Atlanta American Legion Auxiliary,
Royal Neighbors of America and the Atlanta United Methodist
Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Atlanta United
Methodist Church or the Atlanta Christian Church.
