Blessing of the pets     Send a link to a friend

[SEPT. 25, 2004]  Trinity Episcopal Church will observe St. Francis' Feast Day on Sunday, Oct. 3. That morning the 9:45 service will focus on the teachings of St. Francis and will include the hymn "Canticle of the Sun." St. Francis wrote the lyrics for the hymn while at Clare's convent of St. Damian's.

Most High, omnipotent, good Lord,

To thee be ceaseless praise outpoured,

And blessing without measure.

Let creatures all give thanks to thee

And serve in great humility.

(The Hymnal 1982, hymns 406 and 407 by Francis of Assisi)

At the conclusion of the service, all parishioners are invited to return to their homes and bring their pets back to church. At 11:15 there will be a liturgy of "The Blessing of the Animals." Each of the pets will receive an individual blessing. The blessing will take place outside the church, weather permitting.

Following the liturgy, there will be a parish potluck. A sign-up sheet is posted in Berger Hall, and people planning to attend are asked to volunteer for a dish by Sunday, Sept. 26. Come join us for the celebration.

Prairieland Christian Church prepares for Dominican trip     Send a link to a friend

[SEPT. 25, 2004]  HARTSBURG -- Prairieland Christian Church of Hartsburg is planning a mission trip to the Dominican Republic early in 2005. The participants will be working with Alberto Rivas and the Christian Dominican Ministries in the city of Monte Christi.

Tentatively, the trip is planned for Feb. 1-8, but the schedule is subject to change, depending on available flights and costs. The organizers would like to know by Oct. 24 who will be going.

Fund-raising events in the next few months are planned in order to reduce individual costs. Prayer partners and sponsors can also help.
