in observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month

In observance of
Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Logan County Domestic Abuse and
Violence Task Force is sponsoring a Domestic Violence Rally on Thursday
(Oct. 7) at the Logan County Courthouse. The event is scheduled to begin at
noon.

Sen. Larry Bomke will join task
force members, Logan County Sheriff's Department, the Lincoln police
chief, Logan County circuit clerk, Lincoln mayor and area residents
in a walk around the courthouse square. The procession will be led
by the Lincoln Junior High School drum line.
Following the walk, Bomke will
speak about domestic violence and its effects on our society. Mayor
Davis' office will proclaim October as Domestic Violence Awareness
Month in Lincoln. The winner of an antiviolence art contest winner
will also be announced.

 Antiviolence posters
designed by fifth-graders in Logan County will be on display in
windows around the courthouse square throughout October. Also on
display at the courthouse will be the task force's "Silent Witnesses."
These silhouettes represent women and children who have been killed
in domestic violence-related incidents.
