LC women's basketball signs four          Send a link to a friend

[APRIL 11, 2005]  Lincoln College women's basketball coach Carol Wilson has announced the signing of four players for next season at Lincoln. "This is one of the best recruiting classes in the eight years I have been at Lincoln College," Wilson said. "With this group we have added perimeter shooting, strong inside presence, rebounding and players who can put the ball in the basket."

Two of the four recruits are from Illini Central High School, while one hails from Bloomington and the other from LeRoy. Kellie Klassen and Tabitha Smith are the IC grads. Danielle Jones is a Bloomington High School grad, and Cassie Mosier is the LeRoy grad.

Klassen, daughter of Ron and Shari Klassen, is a 5-6 guard who was named to the AP Class A all-state honorable mention team. She earned first-team honors from the Pekin Daily Times and Lincoln Courier along with a first-team Tomahawk Conference honor. She was named to the Springfield Journal second team and the Sangamo Conference second team. She averaged 22.8 points per game for Illini Central with 5.9 rebounds per game while shooting 71 percent at the foul line and 45 percent from the field.

Smith, daughter of Kelly Krause of Mason City, is a 5-2 guard who was named to the Tomahawk Conference second team. She averaged 4.4 points per game, 2.6 assists, 1.5 steal and shot 41 percent from 3-point range.

Jones, daughter of Charlene Jones of Bloomington, was limited to 13 games during her senior season due to an injury, a torn ACL. She is a 6-foot-1 forward who was averaging 10.5 points and 9.8 rebounds before her injury. She was selected all-Big 12 Conference and was an honorable mention by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association.

Mosier is the daughter of Todd and Laura Mosier of LeRoy. She is a 5-foot-7 guard who averaged 19.7 points per game, shot 49 percent from the floor and 67 percent at the foul line, with 3.3 assists per game. She was selected to the IBCA honorable mention team and was second team all-area for the News Gazette and the Pantagraph. She also earned honors on the Sangamon Valley all-star team and the tournament team in addition to the Monticello Christmas tournament team.
