Share the word, save babies through safe havens          Send a link to a friend

[APRIL 11, 2005]  Gov. Rod Blagojevich has issued a proclamation declaring April 11 as Save Abandoned Babies Day. The Save Abandoned Babies Foundation is kicking off a new public awareness campaign cooperatively developed by several agencies. This will include the release of English and Spanish public service announcements to promote awareness of the law, which works to prevent the deaths of newborn infants by providing distraught parents with a mechanism for anonymously relinquishing an unharmed baby, 3 days old or younger, to staff at a safe haven. In Illinois, safe havens are hospitals, police stations and staffed fire stations.

The Logan County Healthy Families Task Force continues to promote the awareness of the Illinois Safe Haven Law in support of their mission to support and educate families and teens in Logan County. The Healthy Families Task Force is currently sponsoring a billboard on Woodlawn Road as part of their public awareness campaign on this important topic. The task force asks that you help them celebrate Save Abandoned Babies Day on April 11 by simply telling a friend and spreading the word. You might save a life.
