Community mourns loss of friend          Send a link to a friend

[FEB. 10, 2005]  A kind and friendly spirit passed from life Monday afternoon here in Lincoln. Toni Whittaker was well-known around Lincoln for her warmth and her welcoming personality. For years she was the voice on the other end of the telephone at Good Ole Pest Control, a business owned and operated by her son, Daron. In addition to being warm and friendly, you knew that when Toni said she would take care of something, it would certainly get done. Lately she has been the patient, helpful personality both on the phone and in person at Whit's Lawn Center on Chicago Street.

Besides her activity in business, she was known for her participation with the Lincoln/Logan Chamber Ambassadors, making new businesses feel welcome in the community. At Whit's she and her family hosted several chamber mixers, and together with her husband, Garry, and her son, Daron, she was very active in local chamber activities.

Toni leaves behind a legacy of generosity, kindness and community participation. Her spirit encouraged many, and she will certainly be missed.
