NORMAL --
After the Red team scorched the net on 66.7 percent shooting in the
first half, behind sophomore Khalif Ford's 15 points, Illinois State
University head coach Porter Moser cleared the scoreboard for the
second half of Tuesday night's scrimmage, and White responded with a
27-19 victory in the final half after falling 53-23 in the first 20
minutes.

"I thought it was good, and I thought there were times in the first
half where we were really executing," Moser said. "When you have 10
guys on the floor at the same time there are a lot of guys playing
30-some minutes, and I thought fatigue set in. But we had some
really good plays and had some guys making shots, with eight
different guys making 3s." The two teams each opened the first
half with a basket, but Red took control with an 18-4 run, including
a pair of 3-pointers by Ford. White closed the gap to 11 points at
22-11, but that was as close as they got, as Red went on a 23-2 run
during a seven-minute span.
Ford finished the half shooting 5-for-6 from the field and 3-of-3
on treys. Freshman Brandon Holtz also added nine points and Greg
Dilligard chipped in eight, while Neil Plank tossed in seven points
and dished out seven assists. Mark Kruse, Michael Vandello and Dana
Ford each tossed in six points each to lead the White team.

With the scoreboard cleared, White jumped out to an 8-2 lead in
the second half, with four points from Kruse. White stayed in
control until the 3:53 mark, when Levi Dyer hit his second 3-pointer
of the half and gave Red a 19-17 advantage.
Ronnie Carlwell knotted the game at 19-19 with a thunderous
baseline dunk, and Vandello put the game out of reach with six
straight points. Vandello led all scorers in the second half with
nine points, while Dyer led the Red team with eight.
The Redbirds open their season on Nov. 9 when they host Augustana
