NORMAL -- Illinois State running back
Pierre Rembert went untouched again on Sunday, when the junior
walked away with his second Gateway Football Conference Offensive
Player of the Week selection on the season after his record-setting
performance at Missouri State.
|
Limited with a sprained MCL, Rembert compiled a school record 272
yards on 34 carries, while rushing for six touchdowns in Illinois
State's 48-23 win at Missouri State. His 272 rushing yards ranks as
the fourth-best total in Gateway Conference history and is the
second-best rushing total in all of Division I football this season.
His six touchdowns tied both Illinois State's and the Gateway's
standards, while also giving him the most points scored, 36, in a
Division I-AA game this season.
He averaged an impressive eight yards per carry, while putting
together varying touchdown runs of six, two, two, 51, 22 and six
yards. He also added two catches for 42 yards, for 314 all-purpose
yards, which ranks No. 2 in ISU history and eighth in the
conference.

Rembert also claimed the league honor on Sept. 25, after the
Redbirds' 42-0 victory over Murray State. The Redbirds now have 13
league player-of-the-week honors this season, including five
offensive selections.
Rembert and the Redbirds will close out the regular season on
Saturday, when Illinois State hosts Indiana State at 1:30 p.m.
