[NOV. 9, 2005]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, at 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Oasis potluck and bingo

Join us at 11:30 a.m. Thursday for the monthly potluck lunch, featuring turkey and all the trimmings, salads, special dishes and wonderful desserts. Bring a dish to pass or a $3 donation. Stay for bingo games sponsored by the Christian Village, the lunch drawing and more surprises. Bring a friend.

Holiday closing

The senior center will be closed for Veterans Day on Friday. Activities will resume at 9 a.m. Monday.

Have limited income?

Social Security can help with Medicare prescription costs. Find out if you are eligible. Attend a workshop presented by Social Security on Monday at 10 a.m.

The Oasis will present a workshop on the Medicare prescription drug coverage, Part D, on Nov. 16 at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. No appointment necessary.

Gift shop

The Oasis gift shop will be closed Nov. 14-17 due to Santa's elves hard at work. The craft shop will reopen Nov. 18 for a Christmas bazaar open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tuesday's lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Nov. 15 will feature chicken and mushroom casserole, garlic bread, dessert, and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Ticket deadline is Monday.

Winners for the week announced

Alice Petro, Linda Hughes and Mable Hoagland were weekday pinochle winners. The weekend pinochle winners were Alice Petro and Eleanor Barton. The five-in-one winners were Henry Warnisher and Dorothy Oltmanns.
