Kari McFadden and Kristina Cook were named first-team all-Americans
and Mindy Crawford was named as the national libero of the year.
Stephanie Hodam and Sarah Nichols were recognized as 2005 NCCAA
Scholar-Athletes. Featured speaker for the evening was Dr. Wendell
Becton, medical director of sports medicine at Decatur Memorial
Hospital. Becton urged the 10 top teams in the nation to be "overcomers,"
not just in volleyball but in all aspects of their lives. "Only one
team can be the national champions, but when you become overcomers
you are all winners," he said.
